Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

Johnny Manziel Sober Starting July 1

Johnny Manziel has (finally!) made a good decision.

Johnny Manziel Sober Starting July 1

The enigmatic young quarterback from Tyler,Texas plans on getting completely sober beginning July 1, 2016, as he eyes a return on the field as soon as possible.

Due to his antics in the past that are far too long to be listed, most people are skeptical about his sudden change of heart, and unexpected maturity. But times change, people change, right?

People have plenty of reasons to be skeptical about Manziel’s turnaround. After all he is on vacation in a luxurious villa in Cabo, Mexico, with a lot of people. On top of that a girl present in the mansion has sent out a photo of small bags containing some sort of white powder. The young lady does not tie Manziel to the drugs whatsoever.

In Manziel’s defense, TMZ Sports spoke with the former Texas A&M QB who has categorically denied owning, or using those drugs.

“They’re absolutely not mine. I don’t even know that girl,” Manziel said.

Despite the steep slope the former Heisman Trophy winner has fallen, he seems to be serious about his sobriety plan to get his life back on the right tracks.

In addition of Manziel’s interview with TMZ Sports, a source close to the former Browns QB told ESPN, “I do believe he’s serious. He’s talked for a while about knuckling down, getting ready and working out. It’s more about health and having options and feeling good. If that works out for this season, great. But if not, that’s OK too.”

According to ESPN, the NFL has suspended Manziel for the first four games of the 2016 season. Although the NFL did not reveal the reason behind the suspension, a source told ESPN, he violated league policy on substance abuse.

“Manziel could face additional discipline under the personal conduct policy for other transgressions, including being charged with assaulting his girlfriend.”

Will Manziel keep up his promise of getting and staying sober?
