Sam Bradford sporting extra green in Eagles green

We will see Sam Bradford sporting extra green in Eagles green this season. The Philadelphia Eagles are reporting that they’ve signed Bradford to a new two year deal worth $36 million according to Rand Getlin on twitter.

The deal is said to have $26 million in guaranteed money, making Bradford likely a pricey stop gap solution for the Eagles over the next two years. Bringing back the veteran was likely a smart move given the Eagles current draft position and the market. Bradford likely offers a somewhat more proven commodity than any other quarterback on the market currently and any quarterback coming out of the draft this year. Drafting at 13th overall in the first round leaves the Eagles behind several teams looking for quarterback help this year.

Bradford has a long documented injury history including consecutive tears to his left ACL. The quarterback played in and started 14 games for the Eagles in 2015 throwing for 3,725 yards with 19 touchdowns to 14 interceptions and a 65.0% completion percentage. Philadelphia would post a 7-7 record with Bradford starting.

While this likely fills the starting quarterback spot in Philly this season look for the Eagles to bring in new arm talent to compete and develop. Doug Pederson would be wise to have a talented back up given Bradford’s penchant for bad luck injuries. Perhaps this time will be different.
