CONCACAF Announces Unanimous Support for FIFA Reform Proposals

Miami (Friday, February 12, 2016) – The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) today announced the Confederation’s collective support for FIFA’s reform proposals.

The FIFA reforms, which will be voted on in Zurich, Switzerland, at FIFA’s Extraordinary Congress on February 26, 2016, were unanimously approved by CONCACAF’s Executive Committee and all 41 CONCACAF Member Associations in meetings held in Miami, Florida, on February 12, 2016.

In a statement, CONCACAF said: “The world of football is at a turning point, and today our membership seized the opportunity to take an important step further down the road towards tangible reform, by supporting the reform proposal put forward by FIFA. CONCACAF strongly supports FIFA’s reform efforts and stands willing to work with FIFA to ensure that each proposal is implemented at every level of the game and maintained over time.”

During the meetings, CONCACAF Members of the Executive Committee also presented the full package of proposed reforms to CONCACAF Statutes, provided detailed explanations about the intention behind each reform, and answered questions posed by the Member Association representatives.

The collective discussions about the proposed reforms were both positive and productive. CONCACAF Member Associations will vote on this package of reforms during the Extraordinary Congress set for February 25, 2016, in Zurich, Switzerland.
