Bombers Sign Macho Harris, Add Depth to Secondary

In a surprising move on Tuesday, the Bombers sign Macho Harris, bringing the veteran defensive back to Winnipeg. Harris spent the last four season in Saskatchewan donning the green and white of the Roughriders, playing in 44 games while starting in 41.

Bombers Sign Macho Harris, Add Depth to Secondary

In 2015, Harris started in 16 games, recording 58 tackles, four sacks, three interceptions- all of which came in one game which was a CFL high- and one forced fumble. Through his CFL career Macho Harris recorded 149 tackles, four interceptions, six sacks and three forced fumbles. But after a down year in 2015, as well as new management in Chris Jones looking for a new direction, Harris wasn’t apart of the plans in Riderville after he and 18 others were released in December. The Bombers also added international defensive end Shayon Green out of Miami University to the roster.

The Blue and Gold are getting a head start on free agency after added Harris and star receiver Weston Dressler before Free Agency opens on February 9th.

If the Bombers can make a splash in the free agency, by adding a Andrew Harris or Jerome Messam, coupled with a good defence, a healthy Drew Willy and Paul LaPolice run offence, Winnipeg will be a dark horse to contend for a playoff spot. They haven’t made the playoffs since 2011, when they eventually lost in the 99th Grey Cup to Travis Lulay and the Lions. The parity in the CFL could continue onward into 2016.
