Matt Campbell lifting Cyclones Recruiting Class

Matt Campbell was named new Iowa State’s newest Head Football Coach on November 29th, 2015. It seems like he has been on the recruiting trail ever since.

Campbell has earned 17 commits in just 60 days for the Cyclones. The latest is a three star wide receiver out of Nixa, Missouri – Chase Allen.

Allen chose the Cyclones over Nebraska and Michigan, raising lots of eye brows around Cyclone Nation. If Campbell can sign a recruit that Jim Harbaugh wanted, then the sky is the limit, right?

Allen is the son of former Northern Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri State football coach, Terry Allen.

Terry Allen told Alex Halsted of Scout.com that, “Matt [Campbell] was as impressive as a head coach as two of the most impressive guys in the country with Riley and Harbaugh.”

After Allen’s commitment, Iowa State has moved to 50th in Scout’s National team recruiting rankings, passing Big 12 foe, Oklahoma State.

For some measurement, when Matt Campbell took over 60 days ago, Iowa State was 84th in the same rankings. Campbell has not even done anything on the field and he has lit a flame with the fans in Ames, Iowa.

By the way, since this story was started, Campbell has already offered another player, this one a 2018 quarterback. It is easy to see Iowa State has a decent future approaching their football program.
