Carey Price Injured in Win Over Rangers

Despite a huge 5-1 win over the New York Rangers, the Montreal Canadiens face adversity as they see Carey Price Injured in the win.

When the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers faced off on Wednesday Night, it was billed as a matchup of the two best teams in the NHL’s Eastern Conference, and two of the best goalies in the league with Carey Price and Henrik Lundqvist. What no one could have anticipated is that neither netminder would finish the game.

Price, who was playing in his third game back after missing nearly three weeks and nine games with a lower body injury, appeared to re-aggravate that injury in the second period of tonight’s game. He left the game at intermission, and was replaced by Mike Condon as the Canadiens looked to protect a 2-1 lead.

Following the game the Canadiens indicated that more would be known on Price’s status in the next several days. Michel Therrien indicated that Price will not play in Friday Night’s game against New Jersey. He also confirmed that it is a re-occurence of the same injury Price suffered before.

With Condon in net, the Canadiens came out flying in the third period. Devante-Smith Pelly scored his second goal of the game, just 17 seconds into the period, to give the Canadiens a 3-1 lead. Alex Galchenyuk and Max Pacioretty also scored to extend the Habs lead to 5-1, and chase Henrik Lundqvist from the net.

Also injured in Wednesday’s game was winger Alexander Semin, who left the game with a lower body injury.
