Buffalo Bills Sign Running Back Dan Herron

The Buffalo Bills, in need of depth at running back with LeSean McCoy injured, announced on Tuesday it had signed Dan Herron to the 53-man roster.

The following is a press release from the communications department of the Buffalo Bills.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – The Buffalo Bills today announced that the team has signed RB Dan Herron to the team’s 53-man roster. In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Herron comes to Buffalo after spending the 2014 and 2013 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. The 5-10, 212-pound Ohio State product has played in 25 career games, starting three, and racking up 389 yards and one touchdown on 87 carries. He has also caught 22 passes for 230 yards. Herron, 26, originally entered the league as a sixth round pick (191st overall) of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2012 NFL Draft.

The Bills also announced that the team has placed TE MarQueis Gray on injured reserve. In addition, the team signed WR Walter Powell to the team’s practice squad.

Powell joins the Bills after being released from the New York Jets practice squad on October 5. The 6-0, 189 pound Murray State product has appeared in four games, mostly as a return specialist. For his career, he has 12 punt returns for 48 yards and eight kickoff returns for 233 yards. He originally entered the league as a sixth round (196th overall) draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2014.
