Predicting Kentucky Football Games 7-12

Predicting Kentucky Football: The second half of the Kentucky schedule sets up easier than the first. Can the Wildcats use this to make a bowl game?

Hello everyone and welcome back to the second part of my look at how I think the 2015 Kentucky football season will go.

If you missed my predictions on the first half of the season you can check it out right here.

On paper the second half of the UK schedule appears to hold at least two wins plus two more games that are definitely winnable. Let’s get right to the schedule.

Predicting Kentucky Football Games 7-12

At Mississippi State (October 24)

The Bulldogs appear to be falling back to earth this year after a magical 2014 run that saw them ranked number one for the first time in school history. Dak Prescott returns but MSU lost a ton of guys on both sides of the ball. Dan Mullen has never lost to Kentucky but this is UK’s best chance, and with nine days of rest after the Auburn game, I am picking the Cats.

Kentucky 34-27 UK 4-3 2-3 SEC

Tennessee (October 31)

The Wildcats and the Vols have played every year in the month of November since the 1950s but not this season. Kentucky played arguably their worst game of the season in losing 50-16 in Knoxville last year. The Vols have gotten very good very quickly under Butch Jones and are picked at the top of the SEC East this season. However, they have had some injuries to some key players. I just don’t see Kentucky getting over the hump in this one even though the game is in Lexington.

Tennessee 40-24 UK 4-4 2-4 SEC

At Georgia (November 7)

In two years against Mark Stoops the Bulldogs have averaged 61 points against the Cats including a 63-31 thrashing in Lexington last season. Nick Chubb and company could make this a long game for the Wildcats. This is the least winnable game for Kentucky this season.

Georgia 52-24 UK 4-5 2-5 SEC

At Vanderbilt (November 14)

The first season in Nashville for Derek Mason was pretty much a disaster going 3-9 and 0-8 in the SEC. 2015 doesn’t appear to be a whole lot better for the Commodores. Kentucky wins fairly easily in this one. Consistently beating Vandy will be a key if the Cats want to move up in the SEC.

Kentucky 37-20 UK 5-5 3-5 SEC

Charlotte (November 21)

The 49ers are moving up to FBS this year in only its third season playing football. This is one of those games where you hope to get up big early and play some of your reserves. Kentucky should clinch bowl eligibility for the first time since 2010 in this one.

Kentucky 56-14 UK 6-5 3-5 SEC

Louisville (November 28)

The Cats nearly beat the Cardinals in the season finale last season and Bobby Petrino lost ten players to the NFL from that squad.

I think Kentucky beats Petrino for the first time as head coach of Louisville in what will be a close game.

Kentucky 27-23 UK 7-5 3-5 SEC

With seven wins that will send the Cats to the Music City Bowl in Nashville for a game against the either a team from the ACC or Big Ten. I will say Kentucky will play Iowa on December 30th.

I would like to hear your thoughts on how Kentucky will do this season. Tweet to @kevinmcguffey with your predictions.
