Orioles Acquire OF Gerardo Parra From Brewers

The following is a press release from the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball regarding their transaction with the Milwaukee Brewers just hours before the non-waiver trade deadline. The Orioles currently sit just two games out of a playoff spot.

Orioles acquire of Gerardo Parra from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for minor league RHP Zach Davies

The Orioles today announced that they have acquired OF Gerardo Parra from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for minor league RHP Zach Davies. Additionally, the Orioles have designated RHP Bud Norris for assignment.

Parra, 28, batted .328/.369/.517 (106-323) with 24 doubles, five triples, nine home runs, and 31 RBI in 100 games with the Brewers this season. The two-time Gold Glove Award winner made starts at all three outfield positions with Milwaukee this season (36 starts in left field, 25 starts in center field, and 14 starts in right field) and ranked among the National League leaders in batting average (fourth), slugging percentage (ninth), and on-base plus slugging percentage (ninth, .886). He is currently riding a career-high 14-game hitting streak during which he is batting .460/.518/.720 (23-50). Over 933 Major League games, Parra has hit .279/.330/.407 with 51 home runs and 291 RBI.

Davies, 22, went 5-6 with a 2.84 ERA (101.1IP, 32ER) in 19 games (18 starts) with Triple-A Norfolk this season.

Norris, 30, went 2-9 with a 7.06 ERA (66.1IP, 52ER) in 18 games (11 starts) with the Orioles this season.
