OTPP: More to come in the NHL Offseason

We've seen a much movement already, but there is more to come in the NHL Offseason. Where do Patrick Sharp, Cody Franson and others land?

Last Word on Sports is proud to present their hockey podcast, On the Powerplay with Ben and Dave. Join Ben Kerr and Dave Gove each week as they take a look around the Hockey World focusing on the big issues of the NHL and elsewhere.

This week Dave and Ben breakdown the first week of NHL free agency and explore what is still to come.

There are a number of big names and useful contributors still out there on the free agent market.  The boys discuss Cody Franson, Johnny Oduya, Alexander Semin, Brad Boyes, David Schlemko, Chris Higgins, Eric Fehr, Mike Santorelli, Jiri Tlusty, Derek Roy, Michael Ryder, Christian Ehrhoff, and others. They look at what these players can bring to a new team, and where the best landing spots might be.

The boys also look at what is still available in the trade market, particularly the Chicago Blackhawks who are over the NHL’s salary cap. It appears the Hawks will likely have to trade Patrick Sharp. Where will he land? What will the return be? and Where does he fit in? Will the Hawks move others like Brandon Bickell and/or Kris Versteeg?

The boys also review the big deal between the Blues and Capitals of T.J. Oshie for Troy Brouwer, a prospect, and picks. Find out why Ben thinks its not as one sided as you think, and find out why Dave dislikes Pheonix Copley.

We also look at Vladimir Tarasenko’s big extension and what it means for other RFAs, and for the St. Louis Blues going forward.

All this and more, in this week’s edition of On the Powerplay.
