Mike Ribeiro, Predators Agree to Two-Year Deal

It was announced this morning that the Nashville Predators and center, Mike Ribeiro, have agreed on a new two-year contract that is worth $7 million. (Cap hit of $3.5 million per year)

This contract signing comes after Ribeiro originally rejected a contract offer the Predators which was also at a two-year team, close to $6 million.

Ribeiro has only spent one season in Nashville, when he signed with the Predators last year in July for one year at $1.05 million. This was after the Arizona Coyotes bought Ribeiro’s contract out after one season due to behavioral issues and alcohol. During this season that passed in Nashville, Mike was able to play all 82 games in the regular season and six games in the post-season. During the regular season, Ribeiro registered 15 goals, 47 assists, good for 62 points. In the first round of the playoffs, Mike nearly averaged a point a game, scoring one lone goal and four assists.

Outside of the Coyotes and Predators, Mike has spent time with the Washington Capitals, Dallas Stars, and the Montreal Canadiens. In 947 career NHL games with all of these clubs, Mike has amassed 217 goals, 501 assists, totaling out at 718 points. In his post-season career, Ribeiro played a total of 55 games scoring seven goals, and 25 assists.

Mike Ribeiro was originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1998 at 45th overall.
