MLS POWER RANKINGS 08 June 2015

RANK TEAM COMMENTS Last 6 Previous Change
1

Sporting Kansas City

Sporting put in big performances over the last month and has now gone undefeated since April. Not too shabby for the recently relocated team. 4-0-2 2 +1
2

Seattle Sounders FC

Losing to SKC and Columbus are their only real stumbles after a very strong May. Cascadia is starting to look scary, but the Sounders are still in control of the region for now. 3-2-1 1 -1
3

Vancouver Whitecaps FC

Vancouver is still struggling for consistency, but when they are on, they are so much fun to watch. 3-3-0 5 +2
4

Toronto FC

TFC is sneaking up the list and are RED hot. Giovinco looks to be worth every dime and is carrying the team. 4-1-1 6 +2
5

DC United

A mixed week for DC. Losing to TFC is nothing to hang your head at, but they need to find more wins. In spite of leading the Supporter’s Shield, DC needs to find a way to win beat top teams. 2-3-1 3 -2
6

New England Revolution

No team has gone winless in their last 6 except New England. After last year’s extended winless summer, are we going to see a repeat this year? Who is going to come to the rescue? 0-2-4 4 -2
7

Portland Timbers

All of the sudden Portland have found what they were missing. 3-game winning streak shows they still got it. Crazy to think of where they were two months ago. 4-2-0 11 +4
8

Houston Dynamo

Can anyone get a read on this Dynamo team? I can’t. Still, they showed well at home against the Red Bulls, even if they were helped by a few deflections. 3-2-1 13 +5
9

FC Dallas

This is the Dallas we all know so well. Early season form is all but gone and they are starting to drift down the table. Can they stop the bleeding? Haven’t won a game since the start of May. 2-2-2 7 -2
10

Montreal Impact

Montreal has turned it on big time. Playing consistently surely helps their cause. Two big wins over VWFC and CLB have them surging up the table. 4-3-1 17 +7
11

Philadelphia Union

Philly may have lost to the worst team in MLS, but their results of late are encouraging. Still not ready to make the playoffs yet, but certainly in better shape. 3-3-0 16 +5
12

San Jose Earthquakes

Results have started to fall off for the Quakes, but like Vancouver, they are a lot of fun to watch when things are clicking. They aren’t losing games, but they are not doing enough to win them either. 2-1-3 9 -3
13

Columbus Crew SC

Crew had a disastrous week and need to regroup. Some locker room noise from a certain unhappy defender will add to the trouble. 1-3-2 8 -5
14

Chicago Fire

Two losses in a row now for Chicago from a winning position spells trouble. Some talent on the squad, but not playing like a team just yet. 2-4-2 12 -2
15

Red Bull New York

Speaking of losing games from winning positions… I don’t think they played as bad as most in their losses to Houston and Seattle, but Marsch and company look like a team devoid of ideas. 1-4-1 10 -5
16

Orlando City SC

Their first season marker should be to outperform the blue team. So far, they are doing it. Big comebacks against Chicago and Columbus should boost their confidence. 2-1-3 19 +3
17

LA Galaxy

Arena is finding it hard to get wins this year, and it is no surprise with the personnel departures, but will Gerrard be enough to make a difference on this indifferent team? 2-3-1 14 -3
18

Real Salt Lake

Salt Lake is starting to resemble the team that used to play at Rice-Eccles. Like the Red Bulls, they lack creative ideas and their defense is a shell of year’s past. 2-3-1 15 -3
19

Colorado Rapids

Colorado really are better than their record, but I’m not sure if they will find a way to show that in the standings. 1-2-3 18 -1
20

New York City FC

City got their first win in a long time but they have a deep hole to climb out of if they want to move up these rankings. A win over “rival” Red Bulls might do it. Either way, one of those teams can stop the skid with a result in that game. 1-3-2 20 0
