Best and Worst of the 2015 NFL Draft Day 2

The second day of the 2015 NFL Draft had its share of great picks as well as puzzling moves. There's also that one player who was selected that has the potential to be a real sleeper.

Day two of the 2015 NFL Draft saw its share of great picks in addition to some puzzling moves. Which picks were the best and worst of the second and third rounds? What player selected has the potential to be the biggest sleeper? Finally, what was the most eyebrow-raising pick?

Best and Worst of the 2015 NFL Draft Day 2

Best pick: Jaelen Strong to the Houston Texans

With Andre Johnson leaving for the Indianapolis Colts, the Texas were in desperate need for a wide receiver to help compliment DeAndre Hopkins. Strong was projected to go late first/early second and he dropped all the way to the third round. Teams did question the problems he had with his wrist, but after he met with doctors, it seemed to be fine. He has a big stature and has great hands so expect him to be liked in Houston as he will get opportunities to shine while teams focus on Hopkins as well as running back Arian Foster.

Worst pick: Devin Funchess to the Carolina Panthers

I understand that Carolina needed a second wide receiver to help out with Kelvin Benjamin, but Funchess is not the answer as early as Carolina took him. They traded up in order to get him and I don’t think other teams were looking at him as early as Carolina took him in the second round. Other than having decent hands, he doesn’t really bring much to the table because he isn’t that big. Also, in college there were a lot of times where he got shoved around and didn’t fire back. There were many other options Carolina could’ve gone to, so I’m not too sure of this pick.

Sleeper pick: Jake Fisher to the Cincinnati Bengals

I really like this pick due to the fact that the Bengals are stocking up on the offensive line. Taking two big, physical lineman in the first two rounds is just what the Bengals needed. Especially with the division they are in, the more protection you have for your quarterback the better. I like Fisher a lot too because not only is he the brother of former number one pick Eric Fisher, but he will fit perfectly in the zone blocking scheme that the Bengals run. Being a third team All-American and a first All Pac-12 team, I think the Bengals got themselves a potential gem in Fisher.

Surprising pick: Randy Gregory to the Dallas Cowboys

Randy Gregory was projected to go late first round and he dropped all the way to the late second round and ended up getting drafted by the Cowboys. This was a surprise to me because Gregory had all the skills to fit as a 3-4 linebacker/edge rusher or just an overall 4-3 linebacker. To see him drop as far as he did was shocking to me. Gregory fits perfectly with Dallas too because with Greg Hardy likely suspended for 10 games, the Cowboys defense is in need of a playmaker and Gregory is capable of being that guy.

The second day of the draft was a key day for teams to get parts to help add depth and look for guys that can help compliment weapons. Some trades were made but not ones capable of making headline news. Overall, the second day of the draft helped see teams fill out some pressing needs.
