Argos Add International WRs Kevin Elliott and Ronald Johnson

Rounding out a busy day in CFL transactions, the Argos have added two international wide receivers to their stable. Both have an impressive football path and should compete with veterans for playing time. Argos quarterback Ricky Ray did falter slightly in 2014 and is going to need to explore his chemistry with new players in June. Please tell us it’s June?

Here is the Press Release from the Argos.

Argos Add International WRs Kevin Elliott and Ronald Johnson

The Toronto Argonauts are pleased to announce the signing of international receivers Kevin Elliott and Ronald Johnson.

Johnson spent four years at The University of Southern California where he totalled 1,750 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns, while adding over 1,300 yards and one touchdown as a punt and kick returner. One of Johnson’s strongest performances as a student-athlete came in the 2009 Rose Bowl, when he posted 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns, helping USC to a 38-21 victory over Penn State. Johnson was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2011 NFL Draft and was later a member of the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks.

The 6’3″ Elliott signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL) as an undrafted free agent in 2012, catching 10 passes for 107 yards in 13 games in his rookie season. He later signed with the Buffalo Bills (NFL) and most recently played for the Brooklyn Bolts of the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL), where he was named a league All-Star in 2014.

A standout in college, Elliott spent five years at Florida A&M, reeling in 20 touchdowns and amassing nearly 2,500 receiving yards as a three-year starter. He received First Team All-Conference honours in his freshman and senior years, and twice recorded seven touchdowns in a season.
