Flames Trade Curtis Glencross to Washington

The Calgary Flames announced that they have traded forward Curtis Glencross to the Washington Capitals.

The 32-year-old Glencross, has 130 goals and 268 points in 489 games while playing for the Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers and the Flames throughout his nine season National Hockey League career. Glencross served as an alternate captain for the Flames, and is on the final year of a four year deal paying him $2.5 million per season. The Saskatchewan native was undrafted, and signed with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in 2004, while making his NHL debut in 2007. The left wing also acts as a spokesperson for the Special Olympics. Glencross can provide grit, leadership and some secondary scoring punch to his new club down the stretch and into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Rumors have circled around Glencross for several months now, as it became clear that the the soon to be unrestricted free agent is not in the Flames future plans. Heading back to Calgary for Glencross, Darren Dreger says, “A couple of picks.”

It has been revealed that the two picks the Flames receive will be a 2nd-round pick and a 3rd-round pick. Glencross had to waive his no-trade clause in order to facilitate the trade.
