MONTREAL, QUE. – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs general manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Canadiens have recalled forward Christian Thomas from the Bulldogs. Also, forward Stefan Fournier has been medically cleared play and assigned by the Canadiens to the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.

In 29 games with Hamilton this season, Thomas has recorded 14 points (nine goals, five assists) and 10 penalty minutes. In three career National Hockey League regular season games with the Canadiens and New York Rangers, the 5-9, 179-pound forward has no points or penalty minutes. In 162 career American Hockey League regular season games with the Bulldogs and Connecticut Whale, the Toronto, Ont. native has recorded 78 points (40 goals, 38 assists) and 47 penalty minutes. The 22-year-old was originally selected by the Rangers in the second round (40th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Canadiens from the Rangers in exchange for forward Danny Kristo on July 2, 2013.

Fournier has not played yet this season due to injury. The 22-year-old split the 2013-14 season – his first as a professional – between the Bulldogs and Nailers. In 40 games with Hamilton, the 6-3, 224-pound forward recorded seven points (two goals, five assists) and 86 penalty minutes. In one game with Wheeling, the Dorval, Que. native recorded no points or penalty minutes. The Canadiens signed Fournier to an entry-level contract on July 6, 2013.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 9 when they’ll host the Utica Comets at FirstOntario Centre at 7:30 p.m.
