Chelsea's Unbeaten Run Grinds to a Halt

Chelsea’s unbeaten run has come to an end abruptly with defeat at Newcastle earlier today. Mourinho is yet to have been victorious at St James’s Park and today’s game was no different.

Newcastle took the lead through Papiss Cisse after 57 minutes and when he scored his second goal of the game it looked as though it would be plain sailing for Alan Pardew’s men.  A Steven Taylor red card meant the game went down to the wire, with Cesc Fabregas getting his 11th assist of the season, finding Didier Drogba to head it in.

Despite six minutes of added time to give Mourinho’s Chelsea hope that they could extend their unbeaten run, Chelsea were defeated.   The Premier League title race has now come alive with Manchester City knowing they could close the gap at the top to 3 points. Meanwhile, Newcastle supporters who wanted Pardew out are left red faced with The Magpies up to 7th in the table.

Although Chelsea will undoubtedly still be favourites for the Premier League title it’s a bitter blow for Mourinho. Chelsea will now be hoping to keep Manchester City adrift as the title race livens up dramatically after this shock result.
