Five in Five Part 2: Denny Hamlin

Hello all, today we take a look at the 2nd part of a five part preview series on NASCAR’s Championship Round at Homestead. The first four preview articles will consist of driver analysis leading up to the 5th and final article on Homestead.

Denny Hamlin isn’t having an amazing year, but if you think that will stop the 33 year old veteran, you have another thing coming. Even though the 11 car has only seen victory lane once this season, it’s seen a top ten 17 times this year.

Why Denny Hamlin can win this year’s championship

Hamlin has been consistent even after he overcame his injury this year, and he picked a good playoff format to have an injury in, (NASCAR’s has had four different formats since Hamlin started) and just one win secured his spot in the first round.

Hamlin has quietly fought to get into the final round of the Chase this season, scoring a top 10 in six of the last nine races. However he will need a little more than that to grab a title on Sunday.

What Hamlin needs is for Crew Chief Darian Grubb to have himself a great day. Grubb has came in clutch before with Tony Stewart and Hamlin will need that little push to win the whole thing.
