Five in Five Part 1: Kevin Harvick

Hello all, today marks the start of a five part preview series on NASCAR’s Championship Round at Homestead. The first four preview articles will consist of driver analysis leading up to the fifth and final article on Homestead.

It seems as Kevin Harvick grows older, he gets better. In 2006, Harvick had his most successful season in his career, winning five races in the #29 for Richard Childress Racing. Now, Harvick comes into Homestead with four wins, 13 Top fives, and a whopping eight poles.

We could keep cramming your mind with stats of an above average season for a 38 year old, or we could get right to the point. Kevin Harvick has the most momentum coming into Homestead. The amount of second place finishes that he had this year, most of which were races he could’ve won, just go to show that we could see the #4 in Victory Lane for the second straight week.

Why Kevin Harvick can win this year’s championship

Harvick’s been the most consistent driver in the series this season, his “closer” nickname has been used in what seems like every Sprint Cup Race this season. That’s exactly what this championship consists of…

Remember that drivers are tied in points coming into this race, however bonus points for laps lead will not be in effect. Whoever finishes the race first will be crowned champion.

Bingo, Kevin Harvick.
