Breaking: Zdeno Chara Leaves Game Against Islanders With an Undisclosed Injury

After playing just 4:13 in the first period, it was announced that Zdeno Chara would not return to the game between the Boston Bruins and New York Islanders.

It’s unknown as to what Zdeno Chara’s injury is, however it’s believed that Chara may have sustained the injury after finishing a check on Islanders captain John Tavares. After hitting Tavares, Chara played one more shift before heading down the tunnel for the rest of the night.

Hysteria isn’t necesarilly the way to handle a situation like this, however if you’re a Bruins fan, being worried about the Big Man sustaining an injury comes naturally. Ever since being traded to the Bruins in 2006, Chara has been the Bruins most important player. He has taken on an extended amount of minutes per game often causing people to wonder if he is human or not.

An injury to Chara would change the Bruins game-plan severely – especially after the Bruins dealing Johnny Boychuk to the Islanders. In addition to that, Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller is out indefinitely with a dislocated shoulder, giving the Bruins one less player to look towards as a replacement.

Unlike weeks ago where the Bruins had to trade defenseman for their roster to be secure, the Bruins would likely have to trade for a defenseman in order to spread out the minutes left by Chara’s absence.

Again, it’s still unknown as to whether or not Chara has received an injury. However, if he has, the Bruins will be in bigger trouble than before.
