FC Dallas: Lessons Learned from the Win over the Vancouver Whitecaps

FC Dallas came into this game after having lost two consecutive games. Before those losses the team from Texas had been on a four game winning streak. Now, back at home, could the Dallas team finally get three points and put an eight point cushion on their fourth place spot? The answer to that is yes. The Frisco based team started off with an astonishing goal from Blas Perez and managed to hold on until the 67th minute until Hurtado equalised for the Vancouver Whitecaps, but Perez said no to a tie and decided to add a second goal to the FC Dallas goal tally to help the Hoops claim the much desired victory. So what lessons has FC Dallas learned in this very exciting game that contained 21 shots and three goals?

1) An In-Form Blas is a Dangerous Blas

Blas Perez had just returned from an international break in which he bagged a few goals and played the full 180 minutes in both games. But one never would have guessed that after seeing Super Raton play a full 90 minutes whilst adding two goals to the scoreboard for Dallas vs Vancouver. After the match coach Oscar Pareja shared a few words concerning Blas. Pareja sees Blas as the leader of the team and he is happy for him.“Blas set the tone for this group, in the locker room and off the field also. In the field you saw it – he is a player who gives all what he has, and the game rewarded him with two goals today. We needed him (Blas) today.”

Blas now has eight goals this season for Dallas and six assists. If he can keep up this form for the game vs LA Galaxy then the team formerly called the Dallas Burn could come back to Toyota Stadium with a their name next to the number three in the Western Conference standings.

2) Tesho Akindele is Doing Great in his First Season in MLS

The Rookie of the Year contender is playing like an experienced player and shows no signs of being a typical rookie who makes countless mistakes. The sixth overall pick in the draft last year has scored seven goals and recorded three assists thus far this season. In 20 games! Chelsea fans would have been happy to have gotten that sort of return from their 50 million pound man Fernando Torres! His ability to provide and become such an important part of the team at the age of just 22 is impressive and has FC Dallas fans frothing at the mouth just thinking about how well he will play in the upcoming seasons.

Coach Pareja even had a few things to say concerning Tesho’s performance this season;

“The kid is growing, I think his prestige is getting higher. In the field he is more respected and I can see that by the rivals and he is feeling it too. That will make him keep growing as a player. The way he is holding the ball is better, we are using him sometimes in the flank and he is doing a good job. I thought he worked pretty hard today and it is another good game for the rookie”.

Pareja is more than satisfied with the effort Tesho is putting in and is expecting more and more from him every day.

3) FC Dallas Are Definitely Making the Playoffs

FC Dallas has just won their first game after having gone out on the road and come back winless. They have scored 48 goals and conceded 37 this season. Now they are sitting comfortably in fourth place and have an eight point lead on Vancouver who is in fifth. With Blas and Tesho regaining form then LA Galaxy might be caught off guard against a fierce FC Dallas team. If FC Dallas win and RSL don’t win their next game then the Hoops could come back home in third place and only three points behind second.
