Fantasy Footy tips: Who Should You Transfer In and Out?

Gameweek 1 of Fantasy Football enlightened us a little on who looks to be a force to reckon with this season. Gameweek 2 is now fast approaching and the general gist is this, get rid of Crystal Palace players and fast (with the odd exception). Also if you didn’t put Cesc Fabregas in your team like I suggested in the gameweek 1 tips, make sure you do. The players suggested last week on the cheap should allow you to allocate Cesc into your team, anyway onto  week 2 fantasy footy tips:

In:

Andre Schurlle (7.5m): Chelsea players will all look very appealing this weekend as they yet again face a newly promoted team, this time  round Leicester City. Off the back of a World Cup winning summer Schurlle seems to have been given the mod my Mourinho into the first team. There are certainly stronger Chelsea players to choose from, but in the Fantasy Football world Schurlle provides points consistently. More importantly when playing regularly he has more time in the game to make an impact and justify his £7.5m price tag.

Remy Cabella (7.5m): Take your pick. At the same price as Schurlle you may opt to choose between the pair with only one free transfer being given a week. Against Manchester City Cabella looked keen to impress, maybe too keen. His elaborate step overs may have resulted in him falling short against an incredibly strong Manchester City side. Aston Villa, to use a criminally over used, yet true in this case cliché, are a different kettle of fish. Villa provides Cabella with a chance to have a run at some older and potentially slow defenders, so expect to see chances created by him in this game and hopefully some points whilst he is at it too for your team.

Angel Rangel (5.0m): After victory against Manchester United away Swansea now have the less daunting prospect of facing Burnley at the Liberty Stadium. Don’t expect them to take anything for granted though, especially at the back. Angel Rangel and Ashley Williams would both seem suitable picks at the same price of £5m. The one thing separating the pair for me is Rangel’s ability to grab the odd assist and help out going forwards. A clean sheet and an assist would be the best case scenario and against new boys Burnley it’s not all that unlikely. Fingers crossed.

Out:

Yaya Toure (11.0m): As one of the most expensive players out there his performance at Newcastle hardly encourages you to part with such a large part of your budget. In the aforementioned game he played some very strange football, missed placed passes, lack of creativity and overall it resulted in him  cutting the figure of someone who looks unsettled at the club. Against Liverpool this week he will need to up his game, but with such a hefty price tag it’s probably best to avoid him and look elsewhere for midfield options who are cheaper and less of a risk.

Phil Jones (£5.5m): The season has started right? You would struggle to believe that looking at Manchester United’s back line. Van Gaal’s revolutionary 3-5-2 lasted 45 minutes and although making such a bold decision to change the formation was admirable it also shows a lack of trust in his own tactics. Whilst Van Gaal experiments with his defence and new signing Rojo, you might as well experiment with defenders from everywhere but Man United (and maybe Crystal Palace with the ongoing drama). Phil Jones himself might not be entirely at fault, but unfortunately he might fall victim to a loss of points whilst the United defence finds its feet.

Steven Caulker (5.0m): Despite him being a relatively good defender, he’s not entirely necessary to have in your team, if you jumped on the bandwagon in picking him like so many.  Spurs away this week will prove difficult yet again for him to get a clean sheet. Even if the unlikely does happen and QPR don’t concede, chances are as so many other people have picked him you don’t really gain on them. To play it safe pick a defender, Ashley Williams or Angel Rangel perhaps, who is less commonly chosen but more likely to get a clean sheet. It might sound obvious but many people won’t change players based on the opponent they have each week, when in reality it’s the most effective way to swing the points balance in your favour.
