Fabber’s Believe It or Not! The Art of the Trade

I am lucky enough to be able to participate in many golf tournaments for good causes. I love the fact that by playing a game like golf I can also be helping to do good for people I do not even know. To me it’s the win-win, help people and have fun while doing it.

This week I got to be part of a golf tournament with four other guys who I have been friends with for years, all pretty much a decade or more. You know if you made it a decade together you will probably make it a life time together. I consider these guys more like brothers to me than my own brothers. These are also the same guys who are in the most important fantasy league I play in every year. Sure I play in some big money leagues, work leagues, FSWA leagues, etc., but nothing comes close to the satisfaction I get when I beat the pants off a guy that I love to torture and also call friend. If I could only win one league a year, this is the one I would pick. The payout might only be $200 for the winner but the bragging rights and smile on my face when I win is worth so much more than any dollar amount.

It is a 12 person league and now some have moved away and moved on but we all come together for this time. We are a month away from the draft weekend and yes I meant draft weekend. These guys will fly in from all over the US to make it to the poker game, golf tourney, and all the other festivities that go along with this league. Just to enter the draft room you have to eat a burger in between two glazed donuts, walk the red carpet for photo op and drink an adult beverage in record time. Remember that is just to get in to the draft room.

I had a rough year last year but rebounded nicely to win the toilet bowl bracket and get the first pick. So obviously right now everyone is trying to get that pick from me right now but their offers are ridiculous. It’s the first pick, why give it up for the 11th pick straight up? That just doesn’t make sense to the most simplest of men. The art of the trade is tricky so always tier your players. You do this to know their worth.

The truth is you should make tiers for all players, this way you can judge how to make trades fair for you and the player in which you are trying to trade with. Here are tiers you could start with and even adjust to fit your mind set.
