Fantasy Tight End Rankings

#30 Brandon Myers

Year Age Team G REC Yrds TD Tar Fum Fun lost
2011 25 Oak 16 16 151 0 27 0 0
2012 26 Oak 16 79 806 4 105 0 0
2013 27 NYG 16 47 522 4 75 0 0

Myers has shown that he can catch the ball with a whopping 79 catches for the Raiders in 2012.  The problem is that he is not in that situation anymore. After a setback last year with the Giants, he has signed with Tampa Bay.  They have depth at tight end already with Tim Wright and Austin Seferian-Jenkins on the roster.  So, how much time does he have with 2nd year man Wright and 2nd round draft pick in Seferian-Jenkins sure to see time?  In your deep, deep leagues he may be worth a late round flyer with his pass-catching upside.

#29 Jermaine Gresham

Year Age Team G REC Yrds TD Tar Fum Fun lost
2011 23 Cin 14 56 596 6 92 1 1
2012 24 Cin 16 64 737 5 94 2 1
2013 25 Cin 14 46 458 4 67 3 3

Gresham is a physically gifted specimen at 6’5″ and 260 pounds. However, now entering his fifth season in the NFL, Gresham still hasn’t been able to put it all together. Now that Tyler Eifert is fully entrenched as the team’s leading tight end, Gresham has very little use in fantasy football. Gresham’s chance at fantasy relevance hinges on Eifert’s health. If Eifert gets hurt, Gresham will have top 15 potential. Otherwise, he should not be considered in your fantasy draft.

#28 Brent Celek

Year Age Team G REC Yrds TD Tar Fum Fun lost
2011 26 Phi 16 62 811 5 97 0 0
2012 27 Phi 15 57 684 1 88 1 1
2013 28 Phi 16 32 502 6 51 1 1

Brent Celek has seen his production drop over the past few years.  He did manage to score six touchdowns last year.  The issue is how fellow tight end Zach Ertz will affect his production.  The two shared the load in a pass-heavy offense last season. Celek saw the lowest amount of targets since his second year as a pro and the 51 targets were more than 40 less than he averaged the four previous years. I do not see a return to his former levels as Celek is in the twilight of his career.  Celek may be a waiver pickup if Ertz goes down.

#27 Adrien Robinson

Year Age Team G REC Yrds TD Tar Fum Fun lost
2012 23 NYG 2 0 0 0 0 0 0
2013 24 NYG 1 0 0 0 0 0 0

Adrien Robinson has never caught a pass in two seasons with the New York Giants, but he is currently listed as the starting tight end for Week 1. Robinson is a big tight end (6’4″/264), and had a good career at Cincinnati. Although he is currently listed as the starting tight end, he hasn’t separated himself from the other tight ends on the roster, according to general manager Jerry Reese. The team is leaning toward a committee approach, so drafting Robinson is very risky and most likely not worth it. Even if Robinson does see a lot of playing time, don’t look for much.

#26 Marcedes Lewis

Year Age Team G REC Yrds TD Tar Fum Fun lost
2011 27 Jac 15 39 460 0 85 0 0
2012 28 Jac 16 52 540 4 77 0 0
2013 29 Jax 11 25 359 4 47 1 1

I have given up on Marcedes Lewis. He has so much potential, but every time he gets a new coach it’s the same old story. He is 30 years old now and he has only scored 25 touchdowns in his career, including four touchdowns last year. This will be a classic tale of how a player doesn’t live up to the hype we give him. I would stay away from him in every league if possible. Lewis is big and with that comes a certain hope that just maybe this is his year, but I am not buying that yet.
