It was just over a week ago that the German team finally lifted the World Cup trophy and now officially rule the world of football. The recent edition of the World Cup played in Brazil was much like previous versions–it was drama-filled. Players, managers and officials alike made many memorable comments. Some were spirit-lifting, others outrageous and controversial, and some were utterly hilarious. During the course of the tournament we were able to pick a handful of them representing many of the 32 countries who began the tournament with high aspirations.

Louis Van Gaal after his side lost on penalties to Argentina: “I taught Romero how to save penalties so yes, it hurts.”
Joachim Loew after his team won the World Cup: “I told Mario Goetze, ‘go out and show the world you are better than Messi’.”
