2014 NBA Draft Top 5 Predictions

The NBA Draft is nearly upon us. This upcoming draft class has been compared to the 2003 class, which contained LeBron, Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. This draft class looks to be a special one with two amazing prospects that look like they could be the next LeBron James or Kevin Durant.

2014 NBA Draft Top 5

#1: Cleveland Cavaliers

Andrew Wiggins

Wiggins looks like he can fit into the system in Cleveland as a shooting guard or small forward. Loul Deng is now listed as a free agent, so a starting position as an SF is open for the taking. Wiggins would be a good fit for the Cavs with his utter raw athleticism. Hopefully, this number one pick doesn’t turn out to be a rookie dud like last year’s pick.

#2: Milwaukee Bucks

Jabari Parker

If Joel Embiid was healthy, I would have him at number two. Parker has a resemblance to Carmelo Anthony and would be great for the Bucks. The center position has been shaky for the Bucks, since Larry Sanders is mainly a defensive center rather than an offensive one. Parker could move over to PF due to his weight gain, but he’ll more than likely share the SF position with Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Bucks need a playmaker or else they’ll wind up in the same position as they did last year.

#3: Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid

This is a huge risk for the 76ers, but the center position needs to be filled. Embiid could be the next Greg Oden if he keeps getting injured. With two significant injuries in such a short span of time, his durability is a huge red flag for a lot of teams. However, the 76ers could run the risk since he has so much potential.

#4: Orlando Magic

Noah Vonleh

The Magic need help at the PF position. Normally, it would seem that Dante Exum would be the 4th pick, but it seems like it may be a huge risk. Vonleh is a big guy that has amazing length. The kid may not be that athletic, but his length is what makes him a threat on both sides. For a 6′ 9.5″ 19 year old kid, he can motor down the court if he needs to. He doesn’t have a very impressive vetical jump, but his overall length is what makes him a huge threat.

#5: Utah Jazz

Trade or

The Utah Jazz are just full of young talent such as Gordon Haywood, Derrick Favors, and Trey Burke. However, they need one big player to secure this roster together. Richard Jefferson is a great player, but he is aging. With the 5th pick, a team that needs a top prospect could trade one of their veteran stars for a newer, younger one. Where the pick goes to and who comes in is a completely different story, but I do believe that the pick will get traded to another team that could use Dante Exum, Marcus Smart, or Julius Randle.

The draft can go anywhere, for all we know the Magic could take Exum, or Embiid could slip to out of the top 5 and into just a lottery pick like Nerlens Noel did last year. The draft is always full of surprises.
