High Expectations for California QB Jared Goff

Coming into his sophomore season as the quarterback of the California Golden Bears, everyone has high expectations for Jared Goff coming into the 2014 season.

Goff is filled with potential. He stands at 6’4 and he enjoyed his freshman season setting a single-season California Bear record with 3508 yards and 18 TD. A bright spot for the disappointing Bears, Goff should be determined to be one of college football’s great quarterbacks this coming season.

Does everyone remember the huge quarterback battle the Bears had back in 2013? Allan Bridgford, Zach Kline, Austin Hinder, Kyle Boehm and Jared Goff all went at it, but Goff ran away with the job and never looked back. Aside from the Oregon game, in which it was raining like crazy, Goff played well all season and proved that he deserved to be the guy.

During his freshman campaign, an  injury struck Jared Goff during the Big Game against Stanford, and he was left with a separated right shoulder. He had a successful surgery back in November  and he is ready for spring ball.

“We’re done with last year,” Goff said. “We’re done with everything that had to do with last year. We’re a brand new team now and we’re ready to go.”

The Bears have a good set of receivers, with Chris Harper and Bryce Treggs in which they combined for 147 receptions last season.  They will give Goff the talent he needs to be even more successful.

To also complement Goff is RB Khalfani Muhammad and Daniel Lasco. Tre Watson, a freshman, is also a prospect to watch, who rushed for a whopping 3,434 yards and 48 TD in high school. Goff will look to benefit from a hopeful running game.

Time will only tell, but Jared Goff should have a great season. He has a strong arm and has natural instincts as a QB.

Expectations couldn’t be any higher, and the pressure is on.
