Can the Seattle Seahawks Repeat?

Last season, the Super Bowl proved to be one of the most memorable in recent history. Going into the game, many thought that the Broncos were going to dominate, and who could really blame them? Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever live, and his supporting cast was hands down the best in the NFL. WR Wes Welker, WR Eric Decker, RB Knowshon Moreno, RB Monte Ball, TE Julius Thomas, and the other offensive players were considered to form the best offense in the history of the game; however, that was not enough to beat the Seahawks.

Can the Seattle Seahawks repeat as Superbowl champions in 2014/15?

With their dismantling of the Denver Broncos, the Seahawks showed the NFL what most coaches already know – defense wins championships. Because of the dominating fashion in which they won, the Seahawks showed how great of a team they are, and because of this, many are wondering whether or not they can repeat as Super Bowl champions in 2014. The answer is yes. As of right now, they are the Super Bowl favorites.

The Seahawks are one of the most balanced teams in the entire NFL, and that says a lot. More so than any other team in the league, the Seahawks focus on both offense and defense equally, leading to minimal holes in their starting lineup.

Offensively, Russell Wilson is unreal. He is a better version of Colin Kaepernick. He is quick on his feet; however, his pocket presence rivals some of the best quarterbacks in the league. Because of this, he consistently burns defensive ends because he is such a versatile player. Aside from Wilson, the rest of the Seahawks offense is fantastic as well. Sydney Rice is a very talented receiver, and Marshawn Lynch is one of the best running backs in the game. Defensively, who could forget about Richard Sherman. Sherman is probably the best cornerback in the league, and he is the definition of a shutdown player. Besides him, DE Cliff Avril, SS Kam Chancellor, LB Malcom Smith, and the rest of the team are able to sustain one of the strongest defenses in the league; however, there is still more to come from the Seahawks.

Next season, the Seahawks look as though they will be even better than before. One of the biggest points of discussion has been Golden Tate. Tate was moved to Detroit, and many thought his loss would hurt the team. This is completely false. Tate was solid, but he was a non-factor. Next season WR Percy Harvin will be back in the lineup, and if the Super Bowl was just a taste of what he can do, get ready for him to have a huge season. Expect him and Wilson to tear it up and put up very solid numbers.

During the 2014 NFL draft, the Hawks also added a new receiver to compliment Percy Harvin. With their first pick, they drafted WR Paul Richardson. Richardson is a very tall and fast player, and his skillset is very similar to Randy Moss. This pick, which was undoubtedly the best choice the team made for the entire draft, will add a great deal for next season. With both Richardson and Harvin going downfield, defenses will have to double cover at least one, leaving Wilson able to destroy defenses with his legs or his arms. Expect this team to make the NFC finals yet again.
