The Biggest Weekend in Motorsport

It’s the biggest weekend in Motorsports. Fans from all over the globe will be watching multiple races in one day, even in a matter of hours. One Driver will even be racing in multiple big races and it all starts Thursday…

Sprint Cup at Charlotte
Qualifying: Thursday at 7:00pm EST on FS1
Race: Sunday at 6:00pm EST on FS1
Previous winner: Kevin Harvick
After one of the most exciting races of the year at the All Star Race last week, NASCAR gears up for its second run at Charlotte. Jeff Gordon came off his first win and continues to be the hottest driver in NASCAR while teammates Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne have yet to get any. Other stars such as Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth are both winless, but have had recent success at Charlotte. However, the biggest storyline remains to be Kurt Busch as he tries to do the double and run the Indy 500 and Coca Cola 600. Busch wrecked in Indy practice and will use a backup car for the 500.

Nationwide at Charlotte
Qualifying: Friday at 10:30am EST on ESPN2
Race: Saturday at 2:45pm EST on ESPN
Previous Winner: Kyle Busch
NASCAR fans are eager to see what this race has in store for the Nationwide series. Kyle Busch continues to dominate, but he crashed in practice on Thursday. Points lead (and now a high school graduate) Chase Elliott had the fastest practice time in both practices. Landon Cassill driving for JD Motorsports finished his second straight top ten in his home state at Iowa Speedway last weekend.

IndyCar at Indianapolis
Race: Sunday at noon on ABC
Previous Winner: Tony Kanaan
The biggest race of the year for the IndyCar series, and it is the most star studded event of the season. Indy regulars Will Power, Ryan Hunter-Reay, and Simon Pageanaud lead the drivers in as drivers like JR Hildebrand, Ed Carpenter, and EJ Viso return.

Formula 1 at Monaco
Qualifying: Saturday at 8:00am on NBCSN
Race: Sunday at 6:30am on NBCSN
Previous Winner: Nico Rosberg
The Formula One Series visits Monaco with Team Mercedes dominating the series. Lewis Hamilton and last years winner, Nico Rosberg, lead the points and have put nearly a 50 point gap on other drivers to start the season. Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, two drivers who have been very successful the past few seasons, follow in 3rd and 4th.

World of Outlaws Sprint Cars at Charlotte
Event Dates: Friday
Event Times: Hot Laps start at 6:00pm EST – Qualifying starts at 6:50pm EST
Daryn Pittman has won FOUR, that’s not a typo, races in a row including his seventh on Tuesday when the series runs into Charlotte this Friday. All the action starts considerably early for the series so hot laps will be something to watch.
