Fuel it Up! Kligerman out, Bowyer married and RGIII

Welcome to “Fuel It Up”!  The racing world is chock full of intriguing stories, but sifting through them to get a good general sense of the landscape can be challenging.  In Fuel It Up, I take the biggest, more interesting storylines and present them to you in a quick, compact 300-words-or-less format.

 

The winner of this week’s paint scheme award goes to Kyle Larson in the #42 AXE Peace Chevrolet.  Special mention goes to Kevin Harvick in the #4 Outback Steakhouse Chevrolet……………  Swan Racing has sold off its assets leaving the #30 Parker Kligerman without a ride for this weekend’s race at Richmond.  Swan investor Anthony Marlowe, has purchased the rights to the Swan Racing Team’s #26 car and merged the team with BK Racing making that team a three-car team.  Cole Whitt will continue to drive the #26 car……………    Dale Earnhardt Jr., invited his favorite football player, Washington Redskins Quarterback Robert Griffin III, to Saturday night’s race.  RGIII will be the honorary pace car driver……………  Clint Bowyer made the most of his week off.  On Monday, Bowyer married Lorra Podsiadlo in the Bahamas……………  Richard Petty returns to the track this weekend after the passing of his wife.  Petty holds multiple Richmond International Raceway records including most wins (13), Top 5’s (34), and top 10’s (41).  Jeff Gordon set the track record last season with a speed of 130.999 mph…………….  Kevin Harvick won the spring race at Richmond last season.  Carl Edwards was victorious in the fall race…………..  45 cars have been entered in the Toyota Owners 400……………  The weather forecast for Saturday night for Richmond, Virginia call for clear skies with temperatures in the 60’s (F) 15’s (C)……………  The Toyota Owners 400 will be televised on FOX in the US and TSN2 in Canada starting at 7p.m.
