Fuel It Up! Auto Club: Attempted murder, Sunny California and Muppets

Welcome to “Fuel It Up”!  The racing world is chock full of intriguing stories, but sifting through them to get a good general sense of the landscape can be challenging.  In Fuel It Up, I take the biggest, more interesting storylines and present them to you in a quick, compact 300-words-or-less format.

The winner of this week’s paint scheme award goes to Brad Keselowski in the #2 Wurth Ford.  Special mention goes out to Kasey Kahne in the #5 Time Warner Cable Chevrolet……………  On Sunday a crazed Tennessee woman crashed her car into a Church in rural Church Hill, Tennessee.  She then proceeded to stab her husband saying he was worshipping NASCAR.  Stephanie Faye Hamman was charged with attempted murder.  Her husband, Steven Hamman, was reported in fair condition after suffering a stab wound to his chest.  Mrs. Hamman told the police that the “Devil made her do it.”……………  Add Kevin Harvick to the list of drivers upset with Danica Patrick.  After being held up by Patrick (who was one lap down at the time) Harvick said over his radio “The 10 (Patrick) needs to learn what (f bomb) team she’s on.  She cost us 3 damn spots.”  Patrick is Harvick’s teammate.……………  Matt Kenseth, whose wife is expecting with the couple’s third child, has a contingency plan this weekend.  Jeff Burton will be on standby in case Katie Kenseth goes into labor on Sunday……………  Kyle Busch will look to repeat last season’s victory here at the Auto Club Speedway.   ……………  Recording artist Pia Toscano will perform the National Anthem prior to the Auto Club 400 on Sunday.  The Great Gonzo from the movie, “Muppets Most Wanted” will serve as the Grand Marshal.   US Olympian Bode Miller and his wife, AVP volleyball star Morgan Miller, will serve as honorary starters……………  The weather forecast for Fontana, California on Sunday calls for Mostly Sunny skies with a high temperature of 77f (25c)……………  The Auto Club 400 can be seen in the US starting at 3:00 pm on FOX.  Canadian viewers can find the race on TSN.
