Cardinals Sign Antonio Cromartie

The Arizona Cardinals announced today that they have signed a one-year contract with free-agent cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

Cromartie posted the following on his instagram account shortly after the signing was announced.

The Arizona Cardinals website is reporting that Cromartie will start opposite Patrick Paterson.  With Tyrann Mathieu at safety, the Cardinals should have one of the best secondaries in the NFL next season. Cromartie played in the Pro Bowl as an alternate last season.

The 29-year-old is a three time Pro Bowler and led the NFL in interceptions and was named an All-Pro in 2007. He has spent the last four years with the New York Jets. He spent the first four years of his career with the San Diego Chargers. Cromartie has 28 career interceptions returning three for touchdowns.

Cromartie was bothered by a hip flexor injury at times last season, but says that the problem is behind him and he will be 100% for OTAs and mini-camps.

Cromartie was released by the New York Jets earlier this week, just days before he would have been due a $5 million roster bonus if still on the team.
