Follow The Tweeters: WWE Raw and Smackdown Reactions (Mar 10-14)

This week’s edition of Follow The Tweeters is in! Did Hulkamania run wild or mild for you? Did we see more roll-ups in three hours than a province in Canada during a Tim Horton’s promotion? As we headbang are way through this week’s programming, here were your tweets of this past week!

Let us start with Monday Night Raw.

Kyle Borg ‏@klborg319
Hulkamania Running wild #RAW

More like “Hulkamania running MILD”. Hulk Hogan has graced the WWE world twice in the last three weeks and I must admit, I am already tired of seeing him. The one good thing I will say is that the announcement of the Andre The Giant 30-man battle royale is intriguing. Unfortunately, Hogan’s mic work has become excruciating to listen to for one sole reason:

Dennis Black ‏@JonesyGT
WWE NETWORK, BROTHER #RAW

Yes Hogan, we get it. The WWE Network has been released. We can watch all your great matches and relive all those memories. It’s too bad you couldn’t tell us how to download the app though, unfortunately the Bellas have not made that clear for us all yet.

Bill Pratt ‏@blpratt1982
So just after Royal Rumble a couple months ago, we’re gonna have another 30 man battle royal on a PPV. Very original. #Raw

It does seem odd but I’ll give it a chance. I’d prefer watching six to eight men competing in a Money In The Bank ladder match to get a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, to be honest but something different for Wrestlemania may not be a bad thing. At worse, it will feature fifteen jobbers being hurled around and out of the ring by guys like Cesaro, Big E, the Shield and perhaps a surprise entrant. There could be a strong possibility we see some legends involved too. Imagine Ultimate Warrior charging the ring to the beat of his theme, circling the ring once or twice, the entering and double clotheslining two people over the top rope. I’m sure the crowd would love this. Maybe Jake The Snake Roberts shows up to confront Santino’s cobra with his little friend.

Alex Wong ‏@emagen_nz
This Wyatt promo is top notch #RAW

One line gave my bones a chilling;
“If you look up at me, you will see a friend, if you look down on me you will see an enemy, and if you look me square in the eye, you will see a god.”

If there is one thing Bray Wyatt does to perfection, it’s building a story through a promo or two. He doesn’t need to lift a finger and do any physical damage. All he needs is a microphone and his mind.

Michael Bornnard ‏@MTBornnard
@JohnCena wins via roll up. Really WWE? #RAW

It truly looked awful on television. The roll-up itself was choppy at best and the way Rowan just lay flat on his back, not moving, not kicking his legs around or even attempting to get out of a pin held down by one arm and very little body weight on it. I did not expect Rowan to win the match but to see him come off so weak, it was a couple of steps back from the Wyatts big PPV win against the Shield a few weeks ago.

Team Daniel Bryan™ ‏@TeamGOATface
I’d rather Triple H come out to his My Time theme #RAW

I miss this theme. Triple H has had his fair share of bad-ass entrance themes, from My Time to DX to The Game and now Bow Down to the King. If I had to pick one though, My Time would be my favorite. Unfortunately it just does not make any sense with his current character. That theme was all about kicking down the walls that were preventing him from taking the next step to superstardom. He had enough and it was His time to take the company by the balls. This generation’s Triple H is the guy that decides who’s time it is. Thus, Bow Down to the King makes much more sense. It’s arrogant to represent yourself as a King, much less demand people to bow down to you but at the same time it’s fitting given his current character.

Michael P ‏@Mike_Parts
WILL PEOPLE PLEASE START THROWING THEIR CHAIRS AND BEERS AT THE AUTHORITY!!!?? #RAW

I wonder if we will ever see this in the WWE. A moment when people have finally had enough and join in unity to disrupt the show. How can security stop a situation like the one when the Dudleys were in ECW and fans started throwing chairs into the ring. You can’t throw everyone in the arena out and cancel the show, can you? On that note, what if all the fans decided to just up and leave the show? It’d be hard to broadcast the remainder of Raw with an empty arena, I would imagine.

.Johnnyboi ‏@InkedUp_Tiny
Dean Ambrose needs to lose that title! He’s killing its value! #wwe #RAW #RAWMemphis

False. The WWE is killing it’s value. Dean Ambrose is a tremendous wrestler and a fantastic mic worker. If WWE creative actually had the brains to pull off a proper mid-card division, we would see a whole lot more depth in terms of challengers for both the United States and Intercontinental Championships.

Remember guys, both these belts are NOT going to be defended at Wrestlemania. That’s not on Big E nor Dean Ambrose. That’s completely on the WWE.

Because Wrestling ‏@BecuzWrestling
It’s a shame that Big E, nevermind the U.S. champ has been nothing but a prop in this feud. #wwe #raw

That’s another problem. Dean is a little less of an issue in this case because he is quite heavily involved in feuds against The Wyatts and with Kane. He’s not just some push-over that gets knocked around like Big E Langston. Big E is the real prop here. You have an Intercontinental Champion that, week in and week out, is on the receiving end of Jack Swagger’s and Cesaro’s finishers. Instead of building a feud between all three men that would eventually culminate in a Wrestlemania match for the Intercontinental Championship and eventually lead to the break-up of the Real Americans, we have… this.

Again, a monkey could come up with stuff that is better than this.

Blake Moran ‏@BBladem83
The front row of the crowd just We The People’d LOL #RAW

I noticed this immediately and had a good laugh. They must have had it planned from the get-go but it was brilliant. They timed it perfectly and looked so proud.

Jennifer Steele ‏@jen_steeleHEEL
Zeb. Wat R U doin?

Zeb. Stahp. #Raw

Colter is hilarious. I’ve loved him from the day he was creating those promo videos with Jack Swagger. He’s unintentionally funny to a whole other level and for all the wrong reasons too.

A41Scorpio ‏@AngericR
Always a pleasure to see the Undertaker. #RAW

Unlike Hogan, Undertaker brings back a certain feeling of something feeling right. I’ve had my critiques on the Undertaker showing up for four to five weeks out of a calendar year to work a match or two and then leave, which is not particularly his fault given his age and all the injuries he’s had to recover from. But when that gong hits, the organ plays and The Undertaker comes out, I get lost in all the emotions. Plus, it is awesome that he brought back the Amish beard for a semi-Ministry of Darkness look. I love it.

KV ‏@KV_PT
I do not necessarily disagree with Heyman right now… #Raw

I didn’t either, which is both scary and evidence of just how good Paul Heyman can be on the microphone. He can convince you it’s Sunday on a Tuesday. He’s that good.

ϻɪcʜaєℓ ‏@HellcatPerez
CM Punk chants…enough already.. #Raw

Two reasons why I felt the same way. Take note, I am a HUGE CM Punk fan.

One. If CM Punk did not return in Chicago, he likely won’t return for a long time, if ever. That’s his choice.

Two. Reigns and Rollins vs. The Rhodes Brothers is absolutely NOT the time to chant for a wrestler that you miss. This was a quality match with loads of talent and the fans disrupted that by acting like a bunch of spoiled brats. Shameful.

Elle Hol ‏@ellehol
Total divas is doing some serious setbacks for the division. #raw

I’m glad people are finally starting to notice this. When the Bellas are winning matches on a weekly basis against the Divas Champion and pretty much every other woman they face, you simply have to look at the show they star on and the ratings it brings to the WWE. The WWE doesn’t give a damn about it’s Divas division, nor any other division outside of the main event picture for that matter. That’s why Sara Del Rey, a woman who could wrestle circles around anyone on the Divas roster today and some men too, is a trainer for NXT. A TRAINER! One could argue that her being the trainer is a big plus for the women that are currently in NXT, which is true considering you have phenomenal talent in there, developping and recently coming to the main roster, such as Summer Rae, Paige and Emma but the problem is, once they jump to the WWE they are completely wasted. Summer Rae is a back-up dancer and Emma is Santino’s latest love interest.

Paige will likely be brought in as Sister Abigail and act as seat warmer for Bray Wyatt’s chair when he is involved in a match.

Amanda Schultz ‏@SteelCityChick2
Bryan is the espresso this crowd needed. #RAW

Such true words. The crowd was dead and I don’t blame them. The crowd needed Daniel Bryan and when they got him, they erupted and the show took off.

Kyle ‏@LetsTalk_WWE
EVERYONE LEAVE THAT WOULD BE EPIC #Raw #OccupyRaw

As mentioned earlier, I would love to see how the WWE could continue the show. Would promos be cut out of the script? It would be an absolute sight to see, that’s for sure. I have to admit that when Daniel Bryan proposed the idea of the fans all getting up from their seats and leaving, I hoped it would actually happen and we would see over ten thousand people making their way to the exits. For just the reaction of fear in Triple H and Stephanie McMahon as they watch all their paying customers leaving the show to participate in a movement outside the building, it would generate more belief that this whole Yes Movement is for real.

Keith Jones ‏@GMajor5
This just saved the Main Event at Mania #Raw

Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton vs. Batista for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Now THAT’S a main event worthy buying.

I will say that I am a bit worried. Unlike a televised event where the WWE has to worry about maintaining a certain rating score through a two to three hour program, a PPV is a different beast. Once you spend the 60-70 dollars, the WWE has got you sucked in. You could demand a refund from your service provider, but the money you get back is not money taken out of WWE’s wallet, it comes straight from your provider which costs them money in the end.

Once you buy the PPV, why would the WWE feel obliged to give you what you wanted in making Daniel Bryan the Champion? Hell, they could even have Triple H bury him and there wouldn’t be a thing you could do about it outside of complaining and getting money back from your provider. The end result would be the same; the WWE laughing all the way to the bank and you getting nothing in return. Perhaps a tad conspiracy theory on my part, but it’s been in the back of my mind since the moment the stipulation was announced.

Steven Post ‏@wittyretort77
I have to admit the #OccupyRAW movement was a very memorable #RAW moment. @wwe

I always wondered when the WWE would have that moment. I remember when Kurt Angle drove a milk truck to the ring, dousing Stone Cold Steve Austin, Stephanie McMahon and the rest of the WCW/ECW roster to end an episode of Raw. This however was something much more real. As I covered in an exclusive piece earlier this week, the fans in the ring were majority ACTUAL fans. Yes, some seeds were planted in there, perhaps a ticket vendor and some security but the majority were fans that were randomly selected to be a part of the movement. That’s what makes it so much more special. It was real. The fans’ excitement was natural, not faked or staged. The gentleman hugging Daniel Bryan as he stood tall on the turnbuckle was a burst of REAL emotion.

For that moment, I thank the WWE.

BoxingHelenaa ‏@BoxingHelenaa
Finally Sheamus vs Christian part 67 is over……for now. #WWE #WWEraw #Raw #RAWMemphis

Finally is right. Sheamus and Christian has been done dozens of time but that’s not the real problem with this feud. The real gripe I have about these two going at it is that every single match is exactly the same as the last. Same spots, same reversals, same chains, same flow. It’s like taking a script, copying and pasting said script and that’s the 67 times we’ve seen this match occur. I have seen Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler square off on numerous occasions and every time I watch a match between those two, I am on the edge of my seat and enjoy the way they battle it out. It also helps that they exchange victories more often than not, instead of seeing one go over the other all the time a la Sheamus and Christian.

Change it up. That’s all I ask. The backstage stuff is great, I’ve enjoyed it tremendously. The ring work is redundant and until it changes, fans won’t show any signs of interest.

the return of Gassedtista #Raw

I think this tweet came in following Batista’s entrance.

I’ll leave it at that.

Graham Matthews ‏@WrestleRant
Daniel Bryan wins! 😀 #Raw

And Raw ended the way it should, probably months and months ago; with Daniel Bryan standing tall, victorious and embracing the crowd, uniting them all in one big Yes! chant.

You then tuned into Smackdown on Friday night and had this to say!

Chris Pirolo ‏@cagetheyanks
Triple H says he will bury Bryan! Hahaha! #IWCJab #Smackdown

I must admit, I appreciated the jab and the entire promo Triple H presented for that matter. It was vintage Triple H, the Hunter we saw as World Heavyweight Champion during his time with Evolution. He was smug, arrogant, sarcastic and quite frankly a big a-hole. Yet at the flip of a dime, he was angry and all business. It was a real treat to see and hear.

Jennifer Spires ‏@__itsbmotime
Dean’s head banging moment lol #SmackDown

This had to be my favorite moment of Smackdown. I’ve been a big fan of Ambrose, from his time as Jon Moxley in CZW (if you haven’t seen his promos and matches there, seriously look it up right now. Just go.) to the present day. He does one thing not many wrestlers do and that’s “doing all the little things right.” The way he eyeballs someone, the way he smirks at someone speaking out of line, the way he snaps and loses it. Everything about Dean Ambrose leads to great television, both as a fan of wrestling and someone that is just looking for entertainment. Dean Ambrose brings it all.

Matt ‏@MattBourne2Fly
Bad News Barrett needs to start wrestling on #RAW and #SmackDown again. #WWE

He’s big in stature, he has a great look, he’s good in the ring, he’s good on the microphone AND he has a pretty killer theme. All signs leading to someone that could get heavily pushed in the WWE, right?

To borrow a line from the man himself; “I’ve got some BAD news for you!”

For whatever reason the WWE can buy for a nickel at the corner store, Wade Barrett’s services are better spent standing on a rising stage and delivering cheap heat to the audience, via their city’s reputation or how poorly their sports teams are doing recently.

marianne dowling ‏@angelandrosie
#smackdown did you know the top part if the arena is empty? They have hung blue sheets up but sold 50 to many tickets for the bottom lol

It happens in many arenas, actually. The great thing about pre-taped shows are that they can alter any segment by switching camera angles to mask the lack of attendance. How can you not notice the piped in cheers, boos and chants?

One instance I will always remember is the main event of Smackdown, many moons ago, that saw The Undertaker take on Kurt Angle in a WWE Championship match. The finish was scripted to have The Undertaker tapping out to Kurt Angle’s triangle choke at the very same time that the referee counted Angle’s shoulders on the mat. It was a big set up to declare both men had won. The problem however was that the original recording was poorly executed. Surely that would be a problem, right? Not when it’s a pre-recorded television show. If you actually look back at the match, you can see that the crowd is different at certain shots during the finish of the match. Different people in the front row and to the side, entire sections completely blacked out behind them and a general lack of crowd showcasing on television in a few camera shots. Why? The WWE had to re-shoot the finish of the match, so what they did was they brought out security staff, event planners and pretty much everyone that was in the back that wasn’t a WWE Superstar and had them fill in as fans while the Undertaker and Kurt Angle re-did the finish.

Smackdown has down this for over a decade now and until they go live, it will never stop.

UltraLiger ‏@UltraLiger
WHY would the Usos have to CARRY their TAG TITLES to do a run-in? *sigh* #Smackdown

This came off as odd to me as well. If my main goal is to get to the ring and defend someone who is getting beat down, I’m not even thinking about carrying my Championship gold to the ring. Of course, this is just a ploy to set up a Tag Team Championship match between The Usos and The Real Americans, but it was still bizarre. On top of that, the whole segment was about Swagger and Cesaro getting back on the same page, yet The Usos made it all about their titles when they layed the straps on the floor and signaled for the Real Americans to come get it.

Graham Matthews ‏@WrestleRant
Remember when Bray Wyatt/Husky Harris was the rookie on #NXT and Kingston was the “pro”? Who’s facing Cena at WM30? Exactly. #SmackDown

How the times have changed… er, not really. Kofi Kingston is still stuck in mid-card hell and will likely never escape (Thank you, Randy Orton).

What a year it has been for Bray Wyatt. He was once Husky Harris, the big guy that could do more but now he has had a year to re-invent himself, turn himself into this Bray Wyatt persona and he’s taken the bull by the horns. Sometimes all it takes is for you to believe in what you are given and this is the case for Bray. He has bought into his character and the results could not be better.

Justin Clarkson ‏@Justin481
#NikkiRackAttack on Tamina. Very impressive. #SmackDown

Impressive indeed, but still not the outcome we should be watching.

On a side note, what a silly name for this finishing move. Just goes to show you what the WWE thinks of it’s women.

CENATION FINEST! ‏@bigreni2012
Ziggler is going to @WrestleMania to Steal The Show! #SmackDown

It’s got to be his time. If not winning the thing, at least give Ziggler a strong showing. Talk about a guy that was on top of the world for a cup of coffee and then dragged through the depths of hell, Ziggler deserves better than what he has been given. For what? He suffered a concussion so we must bury him now? Granted, he made it harder on himself with all the interview work he did and some of the things he had to say about certain superstars and management, but even at that. He’s one of the most hard working guys on your roster, he has a look you can sell, the energy and charisma of a Shawn Michaels and the passion to drive him to the top.

CISH ‏@thecish
From defeating @IAmJericho to competing in a glorified jobber battle royal, how Fandango has fallen in a year’s time. #SmackDown

He had a start full of steam with his Fandago’ing affair but sadly the WWE felt the need to shove it down everyone’s throats. It was organic and the fans enjoyed doing it but when the WWE had to showcase just how cool it was and how everyone was doing it, the majority of the fans lost interest. Plus, Fandango’s character is one that won’t captivate you over a period of six months. It’s fun at first but it becomes stale when you don’t compete in too many memorable matches after beating someone like Chris Jericho.

It’s as if the WWE wanted to push Fandango but forget to formulate a plan to do so.

Shannon Scott ‏@BJJ_Team88_Girl
I honestly don’t see the big deal of Carlos Colon getting inducted in the @WWE #HOF. Congrats to him! #Smackdown

Me neither. It was a bit of a surprise given all the popular names going into the Hall of Fame this year, but Carlos Colon deserves it.

Kane needs to bring back the stitched tights. #SmackDown

So they can just have him play a cheap imitation of a slasher villain who stalks people backstage and then covers their mouths with his almighty hand of doom? Heel Kane flopped big time and their only saving grace was to turn him face, hug it out with Daniel Bryan and push him into the Tag Team division. Every time the WWE has something good with Kane, it either flops or it becomes stale quickly. It’s quite sad because the moment Kane took off the welder’s mask to reveal his return to the monster, I was captivated. Not anymore.

Ulices  @11ulc
The WWE gave The Shield the fake good guy pop. Yup, that’s it they’re face. #SmackDown

It will be interesting to see where things go from this point on. Them turning on Kane was a good indication that they could turn face and beating down on Sandow, a guy who is recognized as a heel, could solidify that. You can’t keep all three heel forever, especially if you plan on keeping them together for the time being. The perfect option would be to in fact turn them face and then break them up eventually by having one of the members turn heel by betraying them.
