Fuel It Up! Kobalt 500: Outlaws, Interesting man and Odds

Welcome to “Fuel It Up”!  The racing world is chock full of intriguing stories, but sifting through them to get a good general sense of the landscape can be challenging.  In Fuel It Up, I take the biggest, more interesting storylines and present them to you in a quick, compact 300-words-or-less format.

The winner of this week’s paint scheme award goes to Ty Dillon in the #3 Cheerios Chevrolet.  Welcome back to NASCAR Cheerios……………  Danica Patrick was upset with Justin Allgaier after last Sundays race in Phoenix.  Since there are so many rookies who tend to be back in the field, Patrick will most likely be introduced to many of them this season.  The solution?  Start running better……………  Kurt Busch has announced his intention to run in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca Cola 600 during Memorial Day weekend this year.  NASCAR’s self-proclaimed outlaw is using his feat to bring awareness to Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.  Busch has worked very closely for several years with the Armed Forces Foundation……………  Jimmie Johnson has the most wins at Las Vegas Motorspeedway with 4.  Jeff Gordon has led the most laps led with 485.  Kasey Kahne holds the track record with a lap speed of 190.456 set in 2011………….  Since we’re in the mecca of gambling the favorite for Sunday‘s Kobalt 500 is Jimmie Johnson at 5-1.  Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth are next at 7-1.  Point’s leader, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and last week’s winner Kevin Harvick are at 10-1.  Jeff Gordon’s odds are 15-1……………..   The most interesting man in the world, from the Dos Equis commercials, will serve as the Grand Marshall.  The Million Dollar Quartet will perform the National Anthem prior to the race………  The weather forecast for Sunday in Las Vegas calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high temperature of 76°F (24°C).  The race can be seen in the US on FOX and in Canada on TSN.  Coverage begins at 3:00 p.m.
