Inter Milan Officially Announce Signing of Nemanja Vidic for 2014-15 Season

Serie A giants Inter Milan have officially announced that they have reached an agreement to sign EPL giant Manchester United captain, Nemanja Vidic on a free transfer for next season.

The club made the announcement via the following statement on their team website.

Inter Milan President Erick Thohir said: “Vidic is a world-class player. I’m extremely happy to have completed this deal to bring Nemanja to Milan. He’s one of the world’s best defenders and his qualities, international pedigree and charisma will be an asset to the team and help bring through our younger players. He will bring added value to the club and is another piece of the great Inter side we are building. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Manchester United, Nemanja and his entourage for the professional and cooperative approach they have shown throughout the negotiations.”

The 32-year-old central defender will leave Manchester United after eight-and-a-half seasons with the club.  He has been part of a team that has collected nearly every major trophy it possibly could, including the Champions League,  five Premier League titles, three League Cups and a Club World Cup.  He has made 204 Premier League appearances and 52 Champions League appearances for the club.

Vidic originally joined Manchester United as a £7m signing from Spartak Moscow.  Vidic teamed with Rio Ferdinand to form an exceptional central defence duo over his time at United, but the pair have been slowed by injury and age in recent years.

Internationally, Vidic has  56 caps and two goals for Serbia-Montenegro and Serbia, including three games at the 2010 World Cup.
