Follow The Tweeters: Raw and Smackdown Reactions (Feb 3-7)

Welcome back to another edition of Follow The Tweeters; a weekly tale of how you, the people on Twitter, reacted to this week’s editions of WWE Raw and Smackdown. Whether it’s insightful, funny or downright random, we chose the best tweets of this week and gave you the spotlight.

Follow The Tweeters: Raw and Smackdown Reactions (Feb 3-7)

On Monday night, there was a tremendous amount of support (and some loathing) for CM Punk whom, as we all know by now, decided to take his leave from the WWE last Monday night. Here are just some of those tweets:

Foxy ‏@FoxyLUFCBITW
I want Punk to be on #RAW tonight!!!

Georgia Girl ‏@Dmt4Taylor
I think tonight when I tweet during #RAW I’m also gonna tweet #WeWantPunk

Professor Tenay ‏@Professor_Tenay
CM Punk is taking a short break folks. He will return using the name CM New wave. #RAW

[S]a[R]a[H] ‏@sarahlvsleon
Lol woohoo cm punk chants #raw

The Steel Cage ‏@thesteelcage
Steph and Triple H, however… They deserve nothing but CM Punk chants at this point. #RAW

Mikel Wyatt ‏@mikelsenior
As a true Cmpunk fan I’m disappointed in this crowd #raw #WeWantPunk should be chanted all Nite long smh

diva fan ‏@reneeyoungfan
Bray Wyatt hid Cm Punk in the woods with Sister Abigail and Little Jimmy #WWE #RAW

And while the fans had fun on Twitter, as did the fans in the arena with all their chanting, there were some unfortunate circumstances which included confiscated signs which included CM Punk’s name or any mention of his character, as well as this:

Josh ‏@YankeeJosh
Rumors that WWE is tossing people who chant “CM Punk.” Lame if true. #RAW

If the rumors are true, the WWE is in a terrible position right now. To kick your own fans, those who paid hundreds of dollars to attend your event, out of the building is preposterous. It’s out-of-this world ugly. It’s unimaginable. Fans have every right to cheer, boo and chant for whomever and whatever they please (within reason, of course). If you don’t like it, work out a way to change that and get out of the sticky situation you’ve found yourselves in.

Back to more #Raw tweets:

Hulk Hogan WWE ‏@HulksHead
If anyone should walk out on #WWE is the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, & Ryback the way they have been booked brother! #RAW

Thank you, Fake Hogan. In terms of Dolph Ziggler and Kofi Kingston, I agree. Dolph Ziggler has to be the most misused talent on the roster today, while Kofi Kingston is better than the mid-card, a spot he finds himself buried into. On the case of Ryback, I like where they are going with him. I do like the tag team of he and Curtis Axel. I also like the Ryback we see on Twitter and in the little videos he has been posting online. If that can translate into his character we see on television, he may just find a comfortable niche for himself.

The reason everyone downloaded the freakin WWE app was because we all had hopes Michael Cole would shut up about it. #Raw

Don’t count on it. Everyone on this planet could download the app and Michael Cole would still be promoting it. I had it downloaded last year but quickly deleted it from my phone out of spite. You hear that, Michael? YOU made me get rid of it! STOP!

CM WALKER ‏@cmmud
lol when was the last time dean defended the us title ? #RAW #CMPunk pic.twitter.com/YVHG454rOa

I alluded to this exact sentiment in last week’s edition when I pointed out that the last real threat to his United States Championship was the very person he beat to win it; Kofi Kingston. Needless to say, it’s time to give Dean Ambrose a proper challenge. It’s time to give Big E. Langston a proper challenge for his Intercontinental Championship… it’s just time to put more emphasis and importance on the mid-card division. And the Divas division. And, well… every division that ISN’T the WWE World Heavyweight Championship division.

The Steel Cage ‏@thesteelcage
Christian is ugly. Daniel Bryan is a troll. You don’t HAVE to say what Vince keeps yelling in your ear, JBL. Seriously. #RAW

To quote CM Punk: “Let me tell you a personal story about Vince McMahon alright. We do this whole (anti) bully campaign..”

The microphone was cut off, but you get the point. Be a Star, Vince.

Gino ‏@Habs_Junkie
You would think a ring veteran like road dogg would know proper ring positioning when taking a moonsault. #wwe #CMPunk #RAW

I went on a bit of a rant after this happened. Road Dogg, as mentioned in this tweet, is a seasoned veteran who has been in the business for a surplus of years and wrestled hundreds of matches. Maybe it’s all in the moment, hesitation caused by a slower reaction, who knows? The thing that I saw was Cody taking a leap of faith landing, for the most part, on his arm. I was sure he broke it and the replays looked horrendous.

#raw
Well looks like ryder is about to do his “#job”

Maybe it’s just me — from a fan’s perspective — but I’ve soured on Ryder to the point where I understand management’s decision. He’s good in the ring, I won’t doubt that for a second but his character is past it’s expiry date and almost all of his mannerisms in and out of the ring scream phony. Perhaps he’s mailing it in now because he’s seen into the future where his career is taking him. My advice to him is to just go to TNA. You’ll be a bigger persona there.

24/7 Mizfit ❤️ ‏@WWELauren Feb 3
My dad wants to know if wrestler fart while they’re wresting?

Lauren, you don’t want to know the half of it. I’ve known of wrestlers who have farted, had the hiccups, soiled themselves, told jokes to the referee while in a submission lock, and the stories go on. Tell your dad that farting is the least of the hilarities that go on inside the squared circle.

Matthew Ross ‏@TSNmatthew
Peaked in on #wwe #raw and they have altered usual audio of broadcast to combat @CMPunk chants.

It was almost as obvious as the piped in cheers and boos of a Smackdown taping. Almost.

♪FantasticTheGreat♬ ‏@fantastic_great  Feb 3
AJ Lee is the only Diva in the business who’s really making an impact. But she really ain’t got no competition to work with #RAW

They DID have competition for her not too long ago. Kaitlyn left, Beth Phoenix left, Eve Torres left. I’d like to see Aksana get a chance to show what she can do against AJ. Maybe even Tamina turns on her bestest friend and challenges for the Divas Championship. However, we’ll likely get Naomi, just because. Those pom-poms have more charisma than both Funkadactyls.

Congrats @WWEDanielBryan Pinning @RandyOrton after a #RunningKnee #YesYesYes #YESMovement #RAW #WWEOmaha #WWEFamily pic.twitter.com/vbRl360XCc

It was a fantastic match, once again, between Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton. I’m still on the fence with Kane’s participation, especially after he was directly told by Stephanie McMahon to NOT put his hands on talent. So, who knows? Kane gets fired from his current position and returns as the Big Red Machine? God, I hope so. I can’t take anymore of the Politician Korporate Kane.

What did Smackdown bring to the WWE Universe? More confiscated signs? Here are your tweets from this Friday’s Smackdown:

Ryan93 ‏@RyanBITW1993
I can’t wait for this match!  #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/rbvw8ufEwb

The match that Ryan was talking about was the one that saw Daniel Bryan taking on Antonio Cesaro in singles competition. Daniel Bryan is Daniel Bryan and we all know that, but Antonio Cesaro is on the verge of a major breakout. He’s always impressed the WWE Universe with his sheer force and brute strength and it is finally paying off. A spot in the Elimination Chamber and a big time match against the hottest Superstar in the company right now.

Zeb Colter ‏@WWEZeb
I HAD A SIGN  FOR #SmackDown BUT IT IS WIDELY RUMORED THAT AN ILLEGAL “SNUCK” IN AND STOLE THEM. BASTAGES!!! @WWE

I wonder if Zebby’s sign contained any reference to CM Punk. Hmmmmm…

The Fans Podcast ‏@TheFansPodcast
I’v never watched a bad Christian vs Randy Orton match. #SmackDown #WWE

I can’t say I have either but I have seen the ending over and over again; an RKO out of nowhere. Christian deserves to win a big match like these. One day, hopefully.

J.R. Mendoza ‏@bebo0072
I wish #AJLee & #NikkiBella had a match without #Tamina & #BrieBella in their corner.  #BrieBella’s screaming annoys me >: /#SmackDown

“COME ON, NIKKI!” How else would Nikki have a chance in a match, if not for her twin sister’s redundancy?

Jed Bennett ‏@JedsWorld
Ahh shoot! @DarrenYoungWWE beat the crap outta @TitusONeilWWE on #SmackDown. Maybe we’ll get a match between them at #EliminationChamber?

One should hope. Darren Young and Titus O’Neil have the potential to put on a very good opening match for this month’s PPV. Although their break-up was verging on Shad/JTG territory, I do enjoy their interactions backstage with and without each other. Titus looked good this week in the ring and Darren Young can compete. These two have a future at the end of that tunnel, they just need to make sure the tracks are set up properly to make it there.

Jonnathan Ritland ‏@ReBourneAgain
Its @ReneeYoungWWE I am content now #SmackDown

And in the most hilarious moment of the year so far, she took a big whiff of Titus O’Neil’s armpit and made a “Not bad” face.

anthony ambrose ‏@anthonyambros11
Wow crazy episode of #SmackDown  last night

I must agree with Anthony. Smackdown was very good and continues to further prove that if you want a show packed with actual wrestling matches, you should tune in to Smackdown every Friday night. Want “entertainment” and soap opera drama, Raw is your best bet.
