Colorado Avalanche Trade Downie to Flyers For Talbot

The Colorado Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers completed a trade of forwards on Thursday, with Steve Downie heading to Philadelphia and Max Talbot heading to Denver.

Downie re-joins the Flyers, the team he started his NHL career with. He was drafted by the Flyers in the first round of the 2005 NHL Draft, but was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2005.

Downie has one goal and six assists for seven points in eleven games this season. He has 56 goals and 89 assists for 145 points in 285 games with in his NHL career. Known for his penchant for sometimes making undisciplined plays he has also racked up 696 career penalty minutes.

Talbot has one goal and one assist in 14 games with the Flyers this season.  They 29-year-old centre is known for his defensive play and grit.  He has 77 goals and 77 assists for 154 points in 515 career NHL games spent with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers.  He was a member of the Penguins 2009 Stanley Cup Winning team.
