Bengals Demolish the Jets

Well that was a one-sided game wasn’t it?  The Bengals playing at home against the New York Jets had to be very careful. The Jekyll and Hyde Jets have been difficult to figure out, beating the Patriots and the Falcons, but losing to the struggling Steelers.  So which team did the Bengals get to see?

The New York Jets were certainly not ready for the onslaught that the Bengals had them endure, as the orange and black laid a 49-9 licking on Gang Green.  With that win the Bengals are now 6-2 in the AFC North.

Coming into this game, Andy Dalton has thrown over 709 yards in the past two weeks, which is more than any other QB in the league – more than Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. Andy Dalton was a star in this game just like the two past weeks, throwing for 325 yards, went 19/30 with a career high 5 TD passes.  With the game over by halftime, he had already thrown four of his five TD passes.

For a while Bengals fans have wondered who Dalton can throw to when AJ Green is in double coverage.  They found their answer.  Marvin Jones gave a great case as to why he should be given the ball more often. He had 122 yards receiving and had 4 touchdowns for a Bengals franchise record! I think you might want to pick up Jones if you are in a fantasy league if he’s not already snatched by now.  Jermaine Gresham also caught a touchdown pass earlier in the game. AJ Green didn’t have a TD this game, but he had over 115 yards receiving.

Let us not forget the defense, which played an outstanding game, holding the Jets to only three field goals. Geno Smith only had 159 passing yards in the game and he had two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns, one by Crocker and the other by Adam Jones.

As the weeks go by, the Bengals are proving that they are not a team to be taken lightly. Dalton has now had three straight games with 300-plus passing yards and could have had more today, but head coach Marvin Lewis took him out of the game with 10 minutes remaining.  It made complete sense seeing as the Bengals are at it again this Thursday against the Miami Dolphins on Halloween.

It was a great offensive and defensive game if you are a Bengals fan.  You watched a complete blow out and once in a while those are fun games to witness. Week 9 will have the Bengals travel to Florida to battle the Dolphins in Miami. The Dolphins are coming off a 27-17 loss in New England and will be looking to stop their four game losing streak at home.

For now the Bengals fans can sit back and enjoy win and relish in the fact that this team looks like the real deal week after week.
