Rumored Lifetime Ban for A-Rod, Suspensions for Others

Ah, Alex Rodriguez. Once the prized player acquired by the Yankees as they traded away Alfonso Soriano and Joaquin Arias to the Texas Rangers. On paper this trade looked really good, A-Rod is a 12-time All-Star, 3-time AL MVP, 2-time gold glove winner, 10-time silver slugger, 4-time Hank Aaron Award winner and many more awards. His lifetime stats include a .300 average, 1898 runs, 2901 hits, 647 home runs and 1950 RBIs.

A-Rod has fantastic numbers for a first ballot hall-of-famer and could have even threatened Barry Bonds home run record had it not been for so many injuries and one full season away from 3000 hits. Legend in the making right? Well not anymore and anyone who follows baseball knows why. A-Rod, or as some people comically call him A-Fraud is now facing a possible lifetime ban from Major League Baseball.

This of course is only a rumor for now and the MLB will not give him a life time ban if he cooperates with the League and doesn’t fight his upcoming suspension involving the Biogenesis scandal and his link to Performance Enhancing Drugs. Rodriguez is the highest paid player in Major League Baseball and the biggest name to be involved with this whole PED issue.

A-Rod’s ban could be the rest of this season and all of next season, which could end his career if he is out of shape. Rodriguez however is an egomaniac that probably won’t behave like Ryan Braun and might fight this accusation until the very end. He will be suspended no matter what as no arbitrator will give him a free pass but they might not give him the lifetime ban.

One thing that is for sure is A-Rod might not get into the Hall-of-Fame since he will be a question mark like Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and others accused of PEDs. If the voters really don’t want to let in guys that used PEDs, or even allegedly used PEDs then we will not see Alex Rodriguez enshrined whatsoever. The sad part about all this is that this is just the beginning of a long battle and many fans cannot wait until this chapter is finally over, but it will take some time.

Heads up for other suspensions coming out soon, whether or not it’s after A-Rod. Nelson Cruz, Everth Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta are all linked to Biogenesis and there is an assumption that their suspensions will happen soon.

There is also another rumor going around that Melky Cabrera, Bartolo Colon and Yasmani Grandal who were all suspended last season for 50 games for testing positive for using a banned substance will not get any extra punishments. MLB will come out with a verdict soon enough.
