DeMarcus Ware: Future All-Time Sack Leader in the BIG D?

Editor’s Note: We at LWOS are always looking for passionate sports fans to add to our staff. We are so pleased to add Austin Thomas of the USAF to our writing team! Welcome to the #LastWordArmy!

Barring any significant injury, the Dallas Cowboys should make way for a NEW all-time sack leader. And yes, you guessed it, DeMarcus Ware.

Harvey Martin has held the record since his retirement in 1983 with an impressive 114 sacks that he accrued in a 10 season career with Dallas. Ware is currently chomping at the bit with 111 sacks (impressive since he’s only been with the team 8 seasons), needing only 4 to surpass Martin. “Easy”, you might say, and most would have no reason to doubt that it will happen.  That said, Ware underwent shoulder surgery this off-season and has been working lucratively to get back to 100% in an effort to be in the position to take the sacks “crown”.

Mid-way through summer OTA’s and mini-camps, he stated “Everything is healing just fine, overall I’m at about 85% and feeling better as time goes by”.  Now, with only 3 days until the start of training camp, Ware has use of both arms, a mended wrist, a healed hamstring and multiple other improvements. Seeing that the Cowboys are switching to a more pass-rush (at least for Ware) focused 4-3 defense under new D-Coordinator Monte Kiffin,  we should DEFINITELY keep our eyes peeled this season for a white and blue blur with the #94 screaming into the backfield in pursuit of not only the team sack record, but possibly… the single season record?!
