Red Devils Report: Sorting the Ins and Outs at Old Trafford

Editor’s Note: We at LWOS are always happy add passionate writers to our team.  We are thrilled to have Ollie Hall covering Manchester United for us.  Welcome to the #LastWordArmy!

As a United fan, I have found it incredibly frustrating to see our lack of activity in the transfer market so far. Here is a list of the players we could see coming in and going out, along with the ones who got away:

Exequiel Garay – Although clearly a talented player, one who once graced the Real Madrid team, I can’t imagine why we need him. I know Rio and Vidic are getting old but isn’t that why Jones and Smalling were brought? Apparently a done deal though.

Leighton Baines – The best left back in England ahead of Cole, he would be a great replacement for and ageing Patrice Evra, who would seem to be off to Monaco. Could be a done deal, thanks to Moyes’ links with Everton.

Marouane Fellaini – Although some say he is not Utd class, I disagree and think he would fit perfectly alongside Carrick in our midfield as he would bring a physical presence. Again, could be happening due to Moyes’s relationship with him and his current employers.

Cesc Fabregas – A bid has been rumoured to have been accepted although it is hard to see him leaving his boyhood club when surely he will replace Xavi in a few years. Would be a great signing, but an unlikely one unfortunately.

Cristiano Ronaldo – a huge longshot, but one that could happen in the next few years. Not a single true Utd fan wouldn’t welcome Ronnie home with open arms as he is perhaps the most naturally talented player Utd have ever had, along with George Best and Eric Cantona.

Thiago Alcantara – I am hugely disappointed that we did not get this little gem of a midfielder. He would have perfect to create chances for Van Persie, although his missed signing may be the making of Kagawa in a red shirt. I’m sure he will be a hit a Munich.

Kevin Strootman – Not a highly regarded as Thiago, but still a player we could have done with owning. I’m sure he will move on to a bigger club than Roma who he looks likely to join.

Patrice Evra – It will be a shame to see our great left back leave if he does go to Monaco if we sign Baines. A great servant, one who will be sorely missed.

Luis Nani – He is not a player I will miss at all. Promised so much, the next ‘Ronaldo’ never lived up to the hype and the poor performances vastly outweighed the good ones. Good riddance.

Wayne Rooney – What a terrible loss this would be. Still our best player and our fourth top scorer ever, he is the player opposition fear and if he goes for £25million what a bargain his future side have got.

There is still a lot of time left in this transfer window, so not all is lost and there is much still to be decided.  As much as we like to be optimists, it’s important to have things in perspective when reading news sources regarding transfer targets.
