Tim Lincecum Returns To Glory Throws No Hitter

Tim Lincecum has made history in the majors tonight, throwing the second no-hitter of the season. Lincecum pulled off the feat in San Diego as the San Francisco Giants blanked the Padres 9-0.

Lincecum threw 148 pitches in the no-no, striking out 13 and walking 4 batters over the course of a dominant performance.

The game takes Lincecum back to the glory days of a few years ago when he was winning back to back Cy Young Awards, and then being a dominant ace in leading the Giants to the 2010 World Series. Things have been a struggle for Lincecum since then, and this game makes him 5-9 on the season with a 4.26 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. However on this night, Lincecum looked like the ace of the past, and for the first time in his career was quite literally unhitable.

The No Hitter is the second seen in the majors this season coming on the heels of Homer Bailey turning the trick on July 2nd. Interestingly enough, Bailey turned the feat against the same San Francisco Giants team on a night when Lincecum ended up the losing pitcher.

Lincecum becomes the seventh Giants Pitcher to throw a No Hitter.
