Metta World Peace, the Los Angeles Lakers and Landing Spots

In an event that not many people saw coming, the Los Angeles Lakers have decided to use the amnesty clause on Metta World Peace.

Metta was a huge part of the Lakers success the past 4 years, helping them get another NBA title in 2010. Metta was the kind of player any coach would want. His temper would sometimes get the best of him, but he would always help whatever team he was on. His offensive game is solid, but he is mainly known for his defensive play.

Now even though the Lakers replaced MWP by acquiring Nick Young, it seems as if they are going into tanking mode for 2014. With many big-name free agents on the market in that year, the Lakers will be playing a huge part in the summer of 2014. Personally, I feel the Lakers shouldn’t have made this move. With Kobe coming back, he doesn’t want to wait until 2014 to win. Him, Pau and Steve want to win NOW. Metta could’ve been huge for them if they wanted to be fighting for a playoff spot. No disrespect to Nick Young, but he’s no Metta World Peace. Nick Young is mainly known for his shooting and not his defense. Yes, Nick is a lot younger than Metta, but he would still be a more valuable piece to a team than Nick Young.

Metta World Peace’s father said that if he (Metta) was amnestied, Metta would end his career and retire. I find this very hard to believe considering the fact that most teams in the NBA would give him a good contract. It seems that he is interested mainly in the Bulls, Thunder, and Knicks. Out of these 3 teams, he probably has the best chance to sign with the Knicks. Now in the case that he doesn’t sign with any of those teams, he would still get calls from other teams.

It’s going to different not seeing Metta World Piece in purple and gold anymore.
