Poli and Saponara Make Debuts at Milanello

AC Milan had their first day of training on Monday in getting ready for the 2013-2014 season coming up at the end of August.  Most of the squad was present at the training camp, including Kevin Prince Boateng, M’Baye Niang, Robinho, Christian Zapata, Nigel De Jong, Phillipe Mexes, Antonio Nocerino, and of course the two recent signings Riccardo Saponara and Andrea Poli at the Milanello. Mario Balotelli was absent as he is still recovering from the injury he received in the Confederations Cup.

Andrea Poli has just been recently acquired to Milan for his services this season and future years to come. He is a 23 year old Italian midfielder who has been loaned out to Sassuolo and Inter Milan over the past 3 seasons. With Inter Milan he recorded 1 goal in 20 appearances. While in Sampdoria from 2007-2013, he recorded 3 goals in 53 appearances.  He has also appeared 3 times with the Italian National Team, scoring 1 goal against San Marino in a 4-0 win. Poli will be in the starting 11 for Milan for this upcoming season, trying to bolster the centre mid line with Kevin Prince Boateng and Nigel De Jong. Poli will help Milan go for the Scudetto and going far in the Champions League this season.

Riccardo Saponara who is back to Milan from being on loan with Empoli is a 21 year old Italian attacking mid fielder who also plays for the U21 Italian National Team. He tallied 3 goals in 18 appearances with Empoli, and 3 goals in 19 appearances with the Italian U21 team. Saponara will help out Milan future target lined up in January, Keisuke Honda at the CAM (Centre Attack Mid) position, providing Milan with scoring and depth.

With training just starting, Poli and Saponara will develop chemistry with the rest of the squad, gearing up to this season coming up, going for the Scudetto and to go far and compete in the Champions League.
