When Will John Cena Turn Heel?

I’m waiting.  Still waiting.  I’ve been waiting for some time now, WWE.

Has WWE teased turning John Cena, the face of the WWE for the past 11 years, heel?   Perhaps, but not as much as I would liked and hoped for.

The last time he was heel was 2003 when he was rapping on his way to the ring.  Working that white rapper gimmick, the guy could battle rap anyboy.  Many of you will no doubt remember the entertaining John Cena – Kurt Angle in a Battle Rap.

He was heel most of 2003.  He had a feud and a main event match vs the WWE champion Brock Lesnar at Backlash 03, then at Vengeance that same year he had a match with the Undertaker.  In the fall, WWE turned him face, or you could say the fans turned him.  I would not say WWE has thought about turning Cena heel even once since 2006/2007, though I would really like if they did turn him heel and shock and shake-up the WWE universe.  Change is good.  No one thought Hulk Hogan would ever turn heel but WCW knew it was time to turn him and was smart in doing so.  It gave new life and a shot in the arm for WCW and Hulk Hogan’s career.

So WWE, I say the time is now to turn Cena heel, and Wrestlemania 30 is the perfect time and venue to do it.   And if the shield is still around, together have John Cena shock the wrestling world by turning on the Cenation and all of his young fans and join The Shield.  I am sure the faces caught by WWE cameras at Wrestlemania and the next night of Raw would be unforgettable.

Of course there is risk-reward to consider, as Cena does sell for WWE – consider all the Cena gear purchased each year.  Turning him heel would certainly take a chunk for the merchandising machine, but the overall it’s worth the change.  It would inject a massive boost to WWE, and I think  there are enough fans who want to see it happen.
