Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

Turncoats, Tebow Radar, and Frank Reich

The NFL is a smorgasbord of awesome storylines.  Some are analytical, others are critical, and some are just down right stupid.  It’s the stupid ones I live for – they make my day.  Welcome to Quick Slant.  I created this column as my way of sharing with you the headlines from around the NFL that I feel are most interesting.  I try to offer my own take on the story in as few words as possible – some of us have a wife, kids and a job and don’t have time to read 5000+ word novels!  So, without further ado, I give you today’s version of Quick Slant:

Dr. Robert Cantu, whose name should mean nothing to you, was recently an advisor FOR the NFL in their Head, Neck and Spine Committee, has turn-coated and was paid a lot of cash recently when he gave a two-hour seminar to lawyers AGAINST the NFL who are building a massive, cataclysmic lawsuit against the league for covering up the connection between concussions and brain damage.  I wonder what Bob does to sleep at night?……Charles Woodson has come to a realization as to why he is still unsigned – he believes he’s too old.  No shite!  It’s not rocket science, and after six weeks without so much as a text message from an NFL team, at least he’s now finally caught on……Brendon Ayanbadejo claims there to be four possible NFL players ready to open the closet door.  As I’ve said before, with such a build, there’d better be fireworks……It was 73-year old Jason Hanson out, and 4-time Pro Bowler, David Akers in for the Detroit Lions, after the latter had been cut by the 49ers, for, well, sucking goats for two years……Apparently Tim Tebow is not on Seattle’s radar.  Please, is this what we are supposed to accept as news?  Tell me, whose radar IS Tebow on?  Stupid…..Former Bills back-up Frank Reich (remember him?  The guy who held Jim Kelly‘s balls?) presented at a recent even in Buffalo honouring the 20th Anniversary of the “Greatest Comeback” game.  It also marks the last time the Bills won a game……I’ll leave you with a WTF moment.  One NFL Draft Analyst (Greg Cossell) has Mike Glennon ahead of Geno Smith.  Okay, we get it, you watch a lot of game film.  I play a lot of Madden 2013, doesn’t mean I can read an NFL defence.  Just shut up already.  The only evidence you need is this picture (click here).

That does it for today.  Check back tomorrow and I’ll have sifted through the day’s headlines and give you what you need to know.
