Fast Break: Down Goes the King, Cousins "It" and Excuses, Excuses

First, welcome back to Fast Break.  As you already know, the NBA is never short of drama, intrigue, and wicked performances, all worthy of making the night’s ticker.  Like you, I feverishly watch the ticker, sometimes many, many times, before finally turning the channel.  And when I find a few stories I like, then I’ll look into them – it’s just my routine.  So what I aim to do for you in Fast Break, is give you an idea of some storylines that I looked up based on basketball tickers that I found particularly interesting.  If you find any of these tickers worthy of your time, why not do a little digging – believe me, they’re worth it! So, on with show – NBA Fast Break in 300 Words or Less:

And down goes King James!  The Heat finally lose a game after spending almost all of 2013 in the win column, yet LBJ finds a way to slam the Bulls for “hard fouls”.  Really, 27 isn’t enough?  Let’s move on……Brandon Jennings went public with his displeasure surrounding his benching in the fourth quarter in the game vs. the Sixers.  His mature response: “I don’t see any all-stars on this team”.  It will be hard to become one yourself if you find your ass planted on the bench……Greg Popovich has had his team eating extra Wheaties this year (hell, they’ve been doing so for the better part of the last two decades) as the Spurs keep rolling.  San Antonio beat a Nuggets team that has been playing very well this year, 100-99……The Dallas Mavericks are resembling Pittsburgh Steelers lineman, Brett Keisel, as they are all sporting beards.  When asked why, Vince Carter (yeah, he still plays) said something about a “tickler”, though it was too inaudible……The Timberwolves are complaining that the referees missed a call in their tilt with the Lakers that gave the West coast team a win.  Wait, are you saying officials gave a call to a massive market team to help them in an important part of their season?  The hell you say!  Scandalous!  Shut up already……Amar’e Stoudamire went on SportsCenter to update the world about his injury. The problem is that he didn’t tell Mike Woodson (Knicks coach, for those who care), who slapped back saying, “News to me. I need to tell him to stay off the TV and talk to the coach.”  Quite the verbal b&*$h slap, eh?  Oh, to be a fly……

There ya have it, NBA headlines that you need to be aware of, in 300 words or less.  Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter – @LastWordOnSport.
