First, welcome to Fast Break. As you already know, the NBA is never short of drama, intrigue, and wicked performances, all worthy of making the night’s ticker. Like you, I feverishly watch the ticker, sometimes many, many times, before finally turning the channel. And when I find a few stories I like, then I’ll look into them – it’s just my routine. So what I aim to do for you in Fast Break, is give you an idea of some storylines that I looked up based on basketball tickers that I found particularly interesting. If you find any of these tickers worthy of your time, why not do a little digging – believe me, they’re worth it! So, on with show – NBA Fast Break in 300 Words or Less:
The NBA has officially acknowledged that Kobe was fouled on the play that had Lakers fans crappin’ their drawers. Dahntay Jones fouled him, fine, but get over it. Kobe landed on Jones’ foot and SPRAINED HIS ANKLE! My four-year old son sprained his ankle the other day shootin’ hoops with his 1-year old brother, you didn’t see him tearing up Twitter!…… Listening to Colin Cowherd this morning (I know, shut up!), he was talking MJ vs. Bron, with two interesting takes: 1. LeBron makes those around him good, while MJ made MJ better, and 2. LeBron is doing it without serious big men. Luc Longley/Bill Wennington are “serious”? Pippen, Kukoc, Rodman, Kerr et al were as good without Jordan? Jesus…… Just in case your head has been lodged up your arse, the Heat are only the fourth team to record 20 straight wins…… How the hell does Memphis have a 44-19 record? When did that happen? Where was I? That was rhetorical…… From the unexpected to the more than expected, the Spurs recorded their 50th win for the 14th straight season. To re-state the obvious that’s the entire 21st century with 50+ wins…… Oh, to be a Raptors fan. Andrea Bargnani is out for the year with an elbow injury. Big uphill battle now; not for the Raptors to make the playoffs, we all know that isn’t happening, the battle is for Bryan Colangelo to find a trade partner to dump this stiff on…… Let’s wrap up with some college notes. The Gators ripped LSU a new one today. In other news, the SEC still sucks (in basketball)…… Is there anyone other than Duke fans cheering for Duke tonight? Where does Duke rank amongst most hated teams in the history of sports? My guess is very, very high.
