Relegation, Bale Diving, AVB's "Smart" Move, a Suarez Comparison, and Barca's Hole

Welcome to Two Left Cleats.

You and I both know footy is filled with fantastical storylines, embellished headlines and completely fabricated news.  Football is at a pivotal point in many ways – scandals, match-fixing, rampant racism, rioting, and then there are the on-the-pitch troubles as well.  Consider the ever-growing “diving culture”, as well as the controversy as to whether to bring in replay and goal-line technology.  Jeez, what’s a bloke to do?

My intent for this column is to bring you the day’s best headlines, along with a little wry, honest and critical commentary, in as compact a manner as I can muster.  After all, who has time to sift through dozens of articles when a sentence or two will do?  Not I, and likely not you either.  So, in less than 300 words you will get the day’s headlines and then at least you will have an idea of what is worth looking into and what is utter crap.

QPR can breathe today, if only for today, after their tidy 3-1 win against behemoth super club Reading. Really, with a debt more than 120million it is crucial in the next few weeks to do whatever the hell it takes to win.  WHATEVER IT TAKES……Swansea manager, Michael Laudrup, re-upped his contract through 2015.  Swans celebrated by losing to WBA, 2-1……Former Liverpool mid Joe Allen has gone on record saying “Gareth Bale is no diver”.  He was also quoted saying, “The sky is green”……Painfully, Arsenal’s Gevinho expects a miracle come from behind aggregate win against Bayern. While I’d give my left nut for that, his delusion is out of control. Just shut up and stop losing the ball near goal……Andre Villas-Boas has said he’s going to wait until the end of the season to gloat over Abromovich.  Good idea, considering what happened to Spurs last year.  Ouch!……According to Magpies manager, Alan Pardew, Ben Arfa is Newcastle‘s Suarez.  Umm, I really have no idea where to even start on why that’s stupid, so…..I’ll leave you today with some Euro news: Barca defender Danni Alves believes winning the Spanish domestic championship is tougher than the Champions League.  Idiot.  I guess that has nothing to do with you being in a big hole against Milan, right?  I hate sour grapes.

That does it for today.  I’m off to stock my fridge and get back in time for some footy replays.  Carpe Diem, mates.
